There should now be NO complaints about GearScore the addon

I got kicked from a random HC party for having only 5k GS. I have complaints about the GearScore addon.
Is your complaint with the GS addon or with the person who misused it? Look at Misdirection. MD is a very powerful tool when used right, but if used wrong (e.g. on the healer) it is a very bad tool.

"There's a flaw in the system, it totally sucks."
The point is if there is a flaw and its widely known it willl be abused by certain players to an extent.
The player i am talking about has no clue about gs, hit caps, dps rotation or raid strategy. He is a complete and utter fail. But he has better GS.
GS isnt a reliable tool of checking a person gear, exactly as wow-heroes score wasnt, exactly as amount of HP/MP wasnt reliabale tool, or as Epic wasnt reliable tool, or as "paste Achi" was never reliable tool. Yet people keep using it, cause its way easier than actually /inspecting people or asking about certain strategy.

Gearscore is the only stat that matters.

The problem here isn't that GS isn't a reliable tool. It is actually very reliable for what it does. The problem is when people assume it is doing things that it doesn't. You're right, GS doesn't ensure that all your gear has the right stats. And you're right, GS doesn't show skill. However, GS
implies
skill, and if you assume both players know their class and geared appropriately, the higher GS will be better.
The problem occurs when the person using GS takes those assumptions and implications to be fact and does no further investigation.
This is a problem not with the addon, but with the addon being used for more than it is intended.
Even without GS addon, or any of those sites, and even if ilvl wasn't displayed, players would still be able to look up the gear a player has and say "this guy has gear from ToC 25, this other player has gear from Ulduar 25. I'll take the person from ToC." The addon just makes that process faster.

First off, the devs didn't make GS. Second, I dare you to put together a 25 man ToC pug without using GS. Just do it, then run it. Bravo if you take the time to track down 24 other good players, inspect them, and are able to turn away a large amount of applicants. Or, you could use GS and save yourself a lot of time by weeding out the people who just don't have the gear for the raid.
considering we ran 40 mans years ago and decimated them with pugs without the use of "GS" or achievments. this is just another way for someone to get the gear they want without the fail, yeah ok no one wants to fail but play the game ffs. my pally is sitting at 2400 odds and says i should focus on totc 10 and 25 and yet on the server thay want 2600.
yeah it looks like im moaning that my gs is too low but for some nub to tell me i cant run a raid cause of a number even though that wow-heroes says i can then i say go ^&*! urself.
rant over.

I've said it before, and I guess I'll have to repeat it again.
The main flaw with GearScore, is that people are starting to gear for the sole purpose of increasing their GearScore, at the cost of actual damage done.
(I'm guilty as charged here; I equip my higher ilvl trinkets and relic when pugging, and then switch to my better ones once we start).

this addon should have never been created.

Skrips is right. All you prove is that the player you have met, using the GS AddOn isn't a good player.
Edit: That is a reply to about everyone posting here.
Of course he's not a good player. He's running the GS AddOn. I wish there was an add-on to warn me whenever one of these retards sneaks into my group so I can kick them/leave before I have to hear any of their GS BS.

The problem is that when people PuG, they want over-geared people. They do NOT want adequately geared people. This is to account for the chance that a person is bad (i.e. bad person in good gear will do better than a bad person in adequate gear).
Gearscore is a phenomenal addon when properly used. Specifically for checking raid experience, and highlighting poor gearing/gemming/enchanting choices for your spec.
Gearscore doesn't tell you anything about their gemming or enchanting. And it doesn't tell you anything about their itemization. You're trying to justify a behavior (using GearScore) that is just bad. It's an add-on for baddies.
I believe the Gearscore addon actually rates people ready for T10 (10-man) with a Gearscore of around 4700. So the addon thinks they are ok for T10. It's the users of the addon that don't agree.
The Gearscore number is probably the worst part of the addon since it makes it way too easy for someone without a brain to make judgement calls. If they changed the addon to just say the tier content they are ready for, then it would probably improve the addon 10x.
This already exists, it's called Wow Heroes. It's a website. It has a more accurate number that takes enchanting into account as well.

But it still sucks.
A fury warrior dualwielding a two handed get a massive 700 gs boost compared to a ret who can only wield 1 two hand f.example.
Ok, not to be an ass but if I equip my one 2-hander from Saurfang10 I get a decent gearscore
If I spec TG and euip the ToGC10 agilityswords my GS DROPS
If I replace the saurfangweapon with a second sword it DROPS even further.
Funny enough the last option yields me the best DPS...
Now I only wish what my gearscore was, I simply link insanity10 for an invite to PuG's, they don't even bother inspecting me or anything.

You have obviously not used Gearscore. It does do all of that. I'm starting to think you are just trolling now...

Wow-heroes is no better than Gearscore. The only real difference is that Gearscore does it all in game. So you don't have to alt-tab to another window.
Checking WoW Heroes also forces you to actually look at their gear. If they have added to GearScore so that it now adds in a static value for enchants and gems, good for them. It's still an unnecessary add-on that is, without exception, employed by morons. I have literally never met anyone who uses or defends the add-on that I would trust to run a PUG for a holiday boss, let alone actual raid content.
