On my first char (a Nelf) I didn't know the neutral bears and cats could be attacked and killed for xp. I died 5 times trying to kill a hostile level five owl. I then ran around all of Teldrassil and leveled up to 2 by discovering all the areas.
I started shortly after BC so when I heard of Vanilla WoW, I thought there was some magical vanilla icecream level and asked in trade chat where I could find "WoW's vanilla icecream".

The first time i ever had a character,
-I only bought skills in the one spec that i was in
-I thought that making it to your race's capital city was a hard thing to do
-I used nothing but white items until around level 40
-I thought when you chose your talents that they were stuck there forever
-I thought you could talk to enemy players and they could understand you
-I didn't class quests so i never got poisons, warrior stances, etc.
-I thought an enemy guard was a player and tried to tell him to stop killing me...it didn't work
-I didn't play classes that used mana because I thought that it would be really hard
-I thought that killing monsters leveled you faster than questing did (I blame Final Fantasy lol)
I could go on for much more :)
Edited to take up less space

I got a run from a hunter to Gnomeragan, Twisted Chanter's Staff dropped, I thought it was worth a lot, sold it for 10g, then blew all the money in the AH to buy a BoE mace :(

I bought alot of my gear, got to about 45 on my first toon (A hunter) And still couldn't afford a mount. I hadn't run more than 3 instances (RFC, WC and i solo'd BFD (amazingly) at like 30ish) So by the time i had gotten to about 45 i gave up on my hunter, a friend wanted to level together, so i switched to a mage. I've gone back to the hunter once or twice..... aaaand.... i'm amazed at how horrible he is.
I also tried to get into a naxx at like level 15.... i know...

up to northrend I was an arms warrior with a shield and I truly believed i could effectively tank. I Continued to do so until people repeatedly began to ask me:why did i have a shield if i was arms. It blew my mind when i realized that protection was the way for me to go. When Killmaim drop i AHed it for only 10g, i thought iwas so rich i then blew that 10g on other AH gear for myself.

I've spent talent points on all sorts of dumb skills (
Savage Strikes
and
Improved Concussive Shot
, for example.
I've done that 2 + :
I had mining/blacksmith on my hunter because I wanted to make myself better armor being armorsmith (got bs till 200 and mining till 300, then dropped both for skinning/lw 450/440 now)
I found out just 3 days ago where the entrance to Blood Furnace is, usually when we wiped I'd be rezzed, or leave the group if I was a ghost, because I never found the damn entrance.
I had pet on passive and I was wondering wth wasn't it attacking.

That's one thing I don't like about the LFD tool. Since it ports you directly to the dungeon, and you've never been there before, if your group wipes you better either be rezzed or not wait too long to get to ghost form with the rest of your group.
One time we wiped in Mara Orange, and it took me FOREVER to find the entrance. And when I did find it, I realized that I passed by it at least 3 times.

The only noobish thing I remember doing (quite sure I have deleted the other memories in shame) is on my rouge (yeah, I din't realize that the class was named rogue, and would blame my IRL friends for writing it wrong). Anyways, when I attacked a mob I would spam the autoattackbutton thinking it would help me attack the mob way faster since he would attack every time I pressed it. :(

Thought warlocks and mages were the the same and thought shamans and priests were the same...
And my first character was a troll hunter, so when I went to tiragarde keep a thought all those Kul Tiras Guys were other players >_<
