Didn't notice that combo points appeared on the upper left hand graphic til about level 62.
First toon was Alliance (haven't made an ally since) and thought Deadmines was the
only
instance in the game. I think I ran it til about level 25.
On that same toon, a pally, went full protection but often fought with a two hander well into the Black Rock Depths levels. Had no idea how or why I was generating threat or why it was so damn hard to keep me healed.
Didn't notice that you couldn't stack curses on my lock til about level 20. So I'd constantly be wasting mana recursing and never letting any one curse take effect before replacing it.
The newbie days were fun, though. All the exploring and "seeing" things for the first time made this game perhaps the most satisfying form of entertainment I have ever indulged in.

That because locks and paladins got free mounts, all their skills costed more
That mana shield was teh shiz
I thought gladiator was tier 5
Just yesterday, a fully epic'd tanking warrior in my guild, discovered recklessness.
Another friend of mine didn't even know about talent points untill 40
That 80g for my mount was an insurmountable amount of money.
All my 70 friend, mostly in blues, where better than everyone else.
I thought kara was the highest dungeon ever and thought it was in some unreachable place unless you had atiesh.
My very first moments in WoW, I thought casting spells would raise my level. *technically yes they do, but I just came from Runescape by then*
To quote the person above me
"The newbie days were fun, though. All the exploring and "seeing" things for the first time made this game perhaps the most satisfying form of entertainment I have ever indulged in."
I couldn't agree more.

I leveled my druid Resto/balance, in the days before boomkin. That is not the problem.
The problem is that I almost exclusively used Starfire, moonfire, beat with staff until dead for soloing.

I didn:t know how
Fade
worked until someone explained it to me in sunken temple. Prior to that I thought i was like a mind soothe spell because it looked like you were stealthing while it was active.
I used only one rank of Flash Heal and Renew pretty much the whole time in Molten Core, the idea of downranking didn't make sense to me because I figured it would be better to let the tank get beat on a little and then cast a heal instead of smapping "inefficient" heals. Oddly enough I still did really well on the HMs. :)

This is not a joke, I actually thought that:
-
Lifestone
's "Use" would consume it. This was of course years before cooldowns were written on items.
(as well as any other "Use," just that Lifestone was the first one I noticed, being one of the early epics in the game to show up on AH).
I don't think I've done too much other nooby stuff. Not for my time at least. I thought I was actually quite smart for the most part. I miss being able to speak with the Horde through emotes... ;)
