In 2.4, nether vortices will be trivial to obtain, so you can't make any gear assumptions about them.
So you're willing to pay 16 primals, and 2 vortices for 54 to a stat you likely don't need, and 40% to healing/mana pots? (not talking about the healing one here because honestly that one IS good).
Caster dps doesn't need hit rating... They get enough of it on all of their other gear. Sure the trinket might be nifty for a few levels (until you get into kara maybe).
Tanks don't need defense. They're already likely to be uncrushable by the time they can actively get this trinket anyway.
Rogues are not going to give up one of our trinkets for 54 crit rating when we have better and easier trinkets to get (poison vial for example).
The point I'm getting at is that, trivial or not, they're asking for MORE mats to make something that is NOT an upgrade.
3 out of the 4 stones are sidegrades at best, and I'm pretty sure the tank one is actually a downgrade for most people.
What's the incentive to upgrade it when it gives us nothing of value?
Is it a step in the right direction? You bet. Will anyone other than healers be upgrading it? I doubt it.
It should be noted that the primal requirements have been
drastically reduced
to 6 primals per stone. The melee crit one, for example, requires 6 Primal Shadow to upgrade and that's it.
edit: And Evo85, whom are you referring to?

indeed blizzard turned around and fixed the major problem with them, though I still think they're itemized poorly, but they're now at least worth the effort to get them.

They're available from Eldara Dawnrunner, and I retract my statements about the stones... They've been fixed (at least the melee and caster dps ones have).
Melee one is now 108ap, and the caster dps one is now 63 damage and healing.

appears that they're rep locked, and require exalted with the SSO.

This trinket was only desirable for alchemist classes/specs with mana problems anyway. What these new versions bring is an upgrade to a trinket that was being used for mana starving reasons over other dps orientated trinkets.
As such, comparing it to a straight dps trinket isn't a fair comparison.
Also, regarding Shattered Sun reputation, I'm quite sure that we will get tons of it out of the daily quests (+gold and building the base on the island without which the items won't be available).
I don't intend to farm the instance for reputation (though there are some very nice items in there also) when i can do it easier through dailies and get paid for it.

You have a trinket slot in which you are
already
using the alchemist stone for mana reasons
over
your second best straight dps trinkets. Ie you are considering that 40mp5 + 15 to all stats is better than the dps trinket.
Now you get the same item with the same mana regen which already made it worthwhile compared to straight dps trinkets, AND added dps/healing/whatever.
That's a very good boost.
If you didn't have mana problems (or won't have problems anymore with the 2.4 changes), then yes this trinket is not for you. If you do have some and need the 40mp5, then the additon of 40 dmg (in my case) is a very welcome upgrade.

the tanking one looks great for feral druids and staying crit immune in resis gear will be much easyer with it

here is my stake in this, 70 orc arms/fury warrior, in the original stone i only cared about the +15 to agi, str, and sta but now theres the option to drop all that and get 108 ap... is it better to keep the 15 to those three or take the 108 ap... and heres the third idea..... can i stack the stones? two trinkets the +15 to all stats and the 108 ap... i dont have a very outstanding trinket on right now and the stone is the shining glory... so if i stack them is it a good idea?
also, doubt it severely but, it wouldnt happen to stack the +40% thing would it? probably not, but it would have been funny to have +80% on mad alch's pots

You can stack the stats with 2 stones, but you'll still get only 40% more out of potions.
