Hi craCkpot,
I can not find any guide to this for phpbb2, could you be kind enough to point me to it? I read a reference you your phpbb2 guid in the earlier pages, but could not pinpoint its location.
I am using Categories Hierarchy by ptirhiik (
http://ptifo.clanmckeen.com/
). It is based on phpbb 2.0.23. There is no function_content.php in this one and a search for
Find:
/**
* @ignore
*/
if (!defined('IN_PHPBB'))
{
exit;
}
yielded nothing in .php files in includes folder. I would really appreciate any help on the matter, since I'd rather not depart with Categories Hierarchy :)
You can see the forum itself on
http://www.zebraguild.com/bb/
Thanks for your time reading this
btw:
http://www.crackpot.us/?nav=links
on your homepage doesn't work and I could not reach you via msn or mail :)

When it says to edit parse.php and wowhead.php to your liking, that is referring to the script's config variables
only
. I do not support the script if you made any changes to the code itself, you're on your own with that.
As far as create_table.php is concerned, it uses phpBB3's config file to get your database information and then, as Tsikura said, will create a table for itself inside of your phpBB3 database. That way everything stays nice and neat and purdy.
@Jynks, I like the idea of itemsets, but I would have to look into how to get the script to properly get the information that I would need. Perhaps another extension to the script is in order? First things first, let me get the craftable extension completely written and released, then I'll turn my attention to this.
@Tim1981, most likely the reason your forum is slow after installing the script is because anytime the function is called to parse, it first checks with Wowhead to make sure it is up and running before it will continue. In version 2.5.3 I am going to add a config variable that will allow you to disable the checking, as well as looking into a way to use phpBB3's session to save that config so that it will only check Wowhead once the entire time you're looking at that particular forum.
I will add the instructions on how to add BBCode buttons to phpBB3 on the script's website, to make it easy on everyone.
Other than that, keep the great feedback coming!
Stay tuned!

would it be rude to point to the probably missed post of mine on top of this page?

A quick update before I goto sleep (yes, I work a late shift...boo). I am still working on only getting the script to check the availability of Wowhead once during a person's visit to the website. I can't seem to get my script to recognize the phpBB3 session, even though it properly sets the variable...just won't let me check the value of it...go figure.
I'll take a look at it again when I wake up and try to roll out 2.5.3 before I goto work tonight.
@bahadur, my apologies, I must have missed your post. Since I redesigned the script (version 2.x+) I have not tested it to work with phpBB2. My advice is to upgrade to phpBB3, which comes with a converter to turn your phpBB2 MySQL database into something phpBB3 can use. If not, then there's not really anything I can do to help...I no longer run a phpBB2 board. If you're somewhat knowledgeable with PHP then you can take a look at phpBB2's code and find somewhere that is called every time a post is viewed. For example, I believe bbcode.php is one such file that has a couple of functions that you could add $text = $whp_parse($text); to, in order to get the text parsed. I used to use that file to hook into my old forums with other scripts that I was working on at the time. If I can help in any way, please let me know.
Later guys!

While taking breaks from WOTLK I have been working on the script a bit. I have decided to remove the check to see if Wowhead is online or not..It seems to slow down people's forums too much, and really isn't worth the trouble. Wowhead is rarely down, and when it is it usually isn't for long.
I am also changing up the way the script handles the patterns for displaying the links. I am moving them to separate HTML files, much like the way phpBB handles its templates. This is in anticipation of the 2 extensions coming sometime soon (no timeframe, yet).
2.5.3 will be released really soon.
