Alright, lets try and come to an agreement of minds.
If you still wish to deny the existence of the bonus healing, equal to so many units of FoL . Then we will have an irrevocable difference of opinion.
Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
I have not argued with you on the number of FoL's thereafter your reasoning, I'm not sure where this disagreement exists, I'd prefer it if you edited your post because I'm definitely not arguing with you there.
You shouldn't be adding the mana conserved with the mana refunded, as conserved mana already includes what was refunded. I guess I should of been clearer there, either way, the grand total is 396 vs 530, or a difference of 134 mana in mp5's favour
So in comparison:
1% crit total mana refunded: 216
1% crit total mana conserved: 396 (excluding recursive refunds)
8.84mp/5 mana generated: 530
Cool, so that's almost another FoL.
As for the recursive aspect, lets say illumation was 100% again
You had a 10% crit rate
Which ment you would be refunded 10% of what you cast right.
So if you chain-cast till you went OOM, you'd of regained 10% of your mana.
Thus you'd kinda have 110% mana.
But that bonus 10% mana can also crit, 10% of 10% is 1%
So you'd really be working with 111% total mana
That 1% additional mana could crit however, so it'd be 111.1% mana.
And so on.
Again, cool, but that's basically like referring to your mana pool and saying
"Since I have
this
many mana and
this
many crit, I can spam
this
many FoL's and have
this
many mana refunded so I can cast
this
many more FoL's"
Right?
Well, what I see is that it takes time, so the time you cast 1 FoL = 1.5 seconds, 8.84 MP5 will refund ~2.6 mana during that time.
So Crit based mana pool = number of casts with disregard to time,
And MP5 based mana pool = number of casts with regards to time.
So like you have 9000 MP, 30% FoL crit chance and 50 MP5 (reasonable level 70 starting stats I suppose, I'm at level 65 with somewhere around 8k mana, 20% crit and 53 MP5)
An example would be:
You can spam FoL for 9000/180 = 50 times, which 15 crits and returns 1620 mana, letting you cast 9 more FoL's and giving you 2.7 crits and 291.6 mana, allowing you to cast 1.62 FoL, which 0.486 of them crits refunding you 52.488 mana, and so on, at a mathematical limit of 61 casts.
So that's a total of 61 casts at 1.5 seconds each in which time, the 50 MP5 would have refunded 915 mana, which means you can cast 5 more, and have this cycle repeat.
In other words, you stated that crit gives you recursive mana, however, with time factored in, so does MP5.

It would be best to recalculate with haste now that tier 7.5 is out.. I would really like some opinions ther in regards to the new T gear against the Malyagos drops for holy palys... very different.

Malygos only drops shoulders?

drops shoulders and boots, along with a trinket that gives 43 mp5 ;)
But i just found out that since bosses and trash are gonna have LOTS of hp... that mp5 in Uldar will be a major factor :(

I suppose posting her to comment the stats is a bit late, but even though theorycrafting is interesting and helps a lot it is only statistics. A person with 50% crit chance may very well crit a lot more than 50% of the time, and a lot less as well. Also, I dunno if this was a factor back when this thread started, seeing as my pala didn't exist back then, but let's say you have 50% FoL crit as was proposed in the start of the thread, you will have 100% crit chance on the target with Sacred Shield on it. Which makes crit considerably more effective in my perspective, at least for keeping two tanks up. If you're healing Patch you can put up Beacon on one tank and SShield on another and keep healing the SShielded one and you have 50% crit you will heal them both for crit heals EVERY cast. Does anyone agree? Please correct me if I'm wrong here ^^
Beacon doesn't work on overheals.

@Quest - there are no old threads on the Theorycraft board.

This thread actually originated in the paladin forums and was moved to the theorycrafting forum when it came about.

Haste changes nothing about mana efficiency. It just allows you to cast faster, not better. The result is more healing throughput at an equally mana draining rate.
As for FoL spamming, its pretty pointless to debate how efficient it is. Most paladins with reasonable gear can spam it till the cows come home, as they regenerate mana far faster then it costs.
As a whole this thread is now outdated.

Haste doesn't have a true reflection in terms of mana efficiency, but it does decrease mana gained through MP5 for each cast.
