I have it, so does tomas
3% chance for spells not to hit you is nice,
and the 15% speed increase is Godly, esp since we lack the "charge" ability
it also helps when AoE farming and instance farming
I've gotten so used to it that I can't imagine making a paladin without it, which is one of the reasons I'm going to make a shockadin even though I'm completely PvE
however, if you're starting raiding, i'd suggest you just take the normal 0/49/12 or a variation of that, i think build experimentation works best once you grasp a firm hold on the playstyle and mechanics of your character

Its 3% magical mitigation, something that's hard to come by in this game (magic "mitigation" is just straight stam)
or you can stack resistance gear

it's useful everywhere and in all instances, the 15% run speed is not effected by the instance you're in ;)

Most bosses have multiple spell types. What do you do then? switch out a SR helm for NR? or do you just stack stam?
have 2 tanks lol
don't make it sound so difficult
This is irony to me. When tanking raids you wont want reckoning imo. Extra chance to be parried and killed via the faster attack off the parry, less chance to proc as you get geared.
the second reason is more valid than the first, the chance of you getting an extra parry is slim enough to be disregarded, esp if you have some expertise
however, those are the reasons why reckoning was dropped when combat expertise was changed to give stamina

PoJ = Spell Avoidance
Spell Warding = Spell Mitigation
STAMINA = Surviving what is not avoided/mitigated
I like the speed bonus but imo the spell avoidance is the only reason to consider putting any points into this as a prot pally. If all you are looking at is the speed bonus then just get the boar's speed enchant and spend you talent points elsewhere. I personally do have PoJ in my current build and will keep it there for the foreseeable future
Just don't gimp yourself by taking the points from any key talents. Usually PoJ points are "stolen" from Imp Judgment

not true
any kind of "gauntlet pulls" or "add spawns" or "kiting"
bar's speed only gives 8%, while PoJ is 15%

Of course it is true...that is to say that it IS MY OPINION. Now as to whether you agree with it is another matter.
To be clearer in what I am saying. If we look at PoJ vs. boar's speed
without considering the spell avoidance
then PoJ 3/3 and Enchant Boot Fortitiude = 15% speed bonus and +12 STAM and boar's speed = 8% speed and + 9 STAM. It works out to 7% speed and +3 STAM and -3 talent points to have PoJ. The valuation here is whether the 3 talent points could be spent to be worth more than the 7% speed and 3 stamina gain. And in my opinion, yes, without the spell avoidance it would be more efficient to get boar's speed enchant and spend the talent points elsewhere. Pallys are the most talent point restricted tanks.
Once you throw in the spell avoidance of PoJ then it is an easy sell to grab it over boar's speed. Which is why it is in my build

rofl
regardless, there's a HUGE gap between 8% and 15% in my experience
and you took it for the same reason I did btw ;)
3% and speed buff for what you are losing is meh.
I know our guilds Hyjal Prot pally shudders when he sees pallies with it, but I spose it depends on where you are at in end game.
so exactly
what
are we losing here?
taking points out of anticipation is reasonable if you're overcapped on defense imo, you're trading off 1.44% physical damage avoidance for 3% spell avoidance and 15% speed increase
