Hiya, one of the guys in my guild is a demo warlock and I don't think he's doing the damage that he should be on raids.
He has good gear (
I don't know what is up with his trinkets, though), but every time I give him an item I feel like I'm throwing it away because he doesn't perform on par with similarly geared dps and may eventually hold the raid back on harder content.
I'm no warlock expert, so I came here.
I will link his armory first:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Azuremyst&n=RoivasNext I will link the most recent ToC 25 twins world of logs update from last night:
http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/deyghajt02uvq7t9/sum/damageDone/?s=1247&e=1512 His % active time was one of the highest of all of the dps so he's not wasting GCD's and stuff, at least I don't think he is anyway.
The other fights are on there as are fights like Ony and other ToC raids from previous weeks, etc.
Can anyone shed some light on what is going on here? Thank you very much.

ok, yes they're making some relatively major mistakes in talents, glyphs and gemming.
he's also either not using a curse or using curse of elements which, in
that raid, he doesn't need to since you have a DK applying that debuff.
for talents and glyphs i suggest you try to get him to read the
FAQ. there's a section for talent specs including the demo one he should use. there's also a section on glyph choice, gemming and spell rotation.
his trinkets, while not the best, do follow the logic that a demo warlock provides the
demonic pact raid buff and boosting the caster's spellpower also boosts the whole raid's spellpower.

Several things immediately jump out:
- He used CoE even though you had an Unholy DK applying Ebon Plague
- He isn't specced for Decimation and therefore isn't Soul Fire weaving <35%
- He's using Death Coil and Shadowflame!
- He isn't specced for Molten Core
- He's gemming for Haste and Stamina instead of SP
It looks like a PvE spec with a nod to PvP, far from optimal.
Point him at the FAQ on this board for some good advice.
