So I have been tanking on my Paladin for a while and thought about testing the Ret spec.
I just wonder how good the Ret dps is compared to other dps classes. I know Skill > Class but if I would be a pretty skilled pve player would i be able to top the dmg list of a good raid group, or would the other classes out dps me?
I always have recount on and I almost never see a Ret dps in the top 3.

You will not be top DPS as Ret against competent players.

It's a harsh reality but it's true. I've been raiding in a ToC25 environment for a while now and in a mix of 245/232 gear it takes everything I have to stay competitive, and even then I seldom see myself in the top 5 spot. On a boss I can focus my attention on and stick to a standard rotation I can put out about 5200 DPS, but always
always
see the rogues, hunters, mages and DK's outperforming me in similar gear.
It's kinda frustrating, but what we lose in DPS we make up for in utility. Sure you may not be topping the charts, but your raid group will miss you when your gone.

It can happen, due to gear/skill/RNG/buffs. However, every guild is different, in general you are correct.

is a ranking of ToC dps.
