It's kind of like Al Gore I suppose. It's all just politics and jumping on the bandwagon.
What do the Swedes get out of this again?
As a matter of fact it's the Norwegians who decides it (Alfred Nobel's will stated that the prize should be awarded by a committee of five people elected by the Norwegian Parliament).
Get your facts correct.
Naw dude. It's the Norwegians. Alfred Nobel was Swedish though. I can see how you got confused.

We are both right, it is chaired by the Norwegians but it is presented by the Swedes,,,
The question is who 'decides' it. Not the Swedes, to be sure. The thought was that Norwegians have no foreign policy, so they would be perfect at having objective opinions about the Nobel Prize. Yeah RIGHT.

I hope to god he takes it as a "Well, step up!" kind of thing, like he said in an interview.

From a State Department spokesman today: "From our standpoint, you know, we think that this gives us a sense of momentum … when the United States has accolades tossed its way, rather than shoes."
And that's all this is. This award is not about honoring Obama or anything he's done (which is
nothing
to date); it's taking one more pot shot at the Bush administration now that it's dead and buried. Now, Bush deserves a lot of it, but that doesn't make this award any less retarded.
If you want to make a political statement, buy some airtime. Don't corrupt a globally-recognized award to do it.

he already did that. And it didn't go over very well.

I hope he doesn't step up. In the past it has been at the price of trillions and government expansion. I'd rather he sat down.

Wow...
I have no words to explain how truly ridiculous Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is...
I like the guy, but he hasn't done anything truly significant to even be nominated for it, let alone win it.

They should have gave it to Sarah Palin imo.
She gives great speeches, shes a champion winker and she dresses very sharp.
If not her then Richard Cheney should have received it. With his cunning intellect, righteous beliefs and beautiful smile.

That's fine if you didn't vote for Obama, as long as you didn't vote for McCain. Not that McCain would have been a bad president, but Palin would have been a heartbeat away from running the country and that is completely unacceptable.

People think he is peaceful for "stopping the war". But he has yet to do this. Just 5 days ago, an alumni of my high school was killed in Afghanistan. His morals might be in the right place, but that doesn't matter if he fails to display them.
