From what I see, your problem is that you put way too much thoughts on it, and use gear / progression / whatever to feel superior to everyone else. When everyone gets the chance to experience all the content and get some purples, you feel insulted and equal so you rant.
I was there for early vanilla, and I had the chance to experience and enjoy a load of things, mostly because I had a load of free time. But to casuals, the game ended up on the 5 mans (or maybe Ubrs / ZG!) . It was impossible for them to even try for the raids, due to high gear checks and the amount of time it took.
Hell, some people have only seen Nefarian and Ragnaros in screenshots, not to mention the original KT.
WoW is a game, and Blizz calibrated it to make it more like a game, less like a work. If the fact that a game can be played somehow destroys your self-e-esteem, then just cancel your account and go outside, chances are you need it.
One last thing... "Wow Career". Is there such a thing? It sounds you're taking this game way too seriously.

If you really want to get into this game, get into the lore. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you're actually playing in a story rather than just an endless sea of quest objectives.
I'm not saying you have to RP or anything, but read the quests, and follow the stories of quest chains, and things will become much more interesting for you, I can guarantee it. It would also help if you read some of the novels or comic books. There is so much story to this game, and too many people overlook that aspect of it.
If you actually follow through the story, you'll find yourself able to play regardless of what class or race you are.

I enjoy the lore aspect of WoW so much better than the game itself. I've been playing for three years, and I only have one level 80, because I find it so boring to level by myself. I havn't raided since Ulduar came out, and I just recently started getting into heroics again. I was so bored with the game, but I didn't want to quit. (loladdict). I just found other things that were fun in the game, and reading quests and learning about the lore was one of them. I've also done old instances by myself once I dinged 80, just for cool looking gear. :D
Collecting mounts and pets is the main thing that keeps me playing, as well as the social aspect. I just recently hit 73 mounts and 82 pets and I'm still working for more. The rep grinds and luck required for it is surprisingly challenging, but to me it's worth it once I get that rare mount/pet. I dunno, it's just something fun that I can do by myself, not having to worry about people QQing in bgs or taking raids too seriously.
I also adore talking to my friends on WoW. There are some that are just 'internet buddies', but then there are some that I consider real friends. It's great meeting all kinds of people from all over the world.
My point is, that maybe you just need to find something else to immerse yourself in besides raiding or worrying about collecting gear, whether thats collecting mounts/pets/tabards/old armor etc., learning the lore, or anything else.

I think that looking for the perfect chr that is YOU is my goal. I have 4 80's LOL
Tank DPS heal.. find what is me and a class to fill that is the most important thing.
Have I found it.....NO
every class is missing something, the other persons grass always looks greener (easier and better)
Yes I wish I had only done one chr and had all the time and gear on that one chr
And NOT a great player because of it.
I am not the sharpest crayon in the box.
===============================
I talked to a guy yesterday that just got his pally to 80, now he is talking about quitting because he was gone during brewfest and didn't get any of that eq.....WTH
===============================
do you have one chr and that makes you feel good about playing?
play that and forget the rest might be a good thing. (don't delete them just let them idle for a while)
HELL you can just idle for a while, and take a break.
BUT then someone will get ahead on gear or position. (this is what is wrong with the game in my opinion)
unless you play daily you are a failure....
THIS IS BS, don't listen to the game..do what you want to do. AND HAVE FUN

That's called "Learning". Blizzard implemented it in 2.1.
Seems some pug members has a found a way around this. :(
GAWD! Blizz r mak teh W0W 2 hrd. NURF LERNING!
On-topic: I'd be interested to know in how you spent $300 on WoW not including your subscription fees. It's $150 for all the boxes, which leaves you another $150 in what - server transfers and character revamps, or (more recently) faction changes?
Disregarding that, sometimes you just have to take a break for a bit. I'm taking a vacation in Millenium City (read: Champions Online) to take my mind off the detonation of my guild, but it's been nearly a month and I'm starting to get that itch again. No, not the one the doctor took care of with penicillin - I mean the itch to play WoW, hosers!

Well, since for some reason, the fact that I am under 18 disallows me from posting on the blizzard official forums. So I would like to get some responses here.
I feel like my WoW career has run its course, and has time after time come back and eaten away parts of my life. I recently got my 3rd level 80, and according to my calculation have spent over 300 dollars on account actions (not even including the subscription fee). However, i find at this point in time leveling to be a pointless process that will again eat away hours of my real life where I can spend doing things with my family etc.
I quit raiding after cataclysm was announced and started trying to find an alt to level to 80. Well, I have tried every form of every class, and nothing seems to keep my attention, and my recent 80 requires so much work I do not even want to begin with him (that is why PvP leveling sucks I suppose). So I ask you, what makes you keep playing this game? maybe it will inspire me to keep playing.... I am not o ne of those people who thinks it is pointless to play a game like WoW. I just think they are making WoW rather pointless...
Gear is incredibly easy to get, so you have noobs coming to pugs with a mix of epix and a few greens and because they ran the daily heroic every day for the last couple months, they have high enough stats to join anything with doing next to no work. So to watch guildies of mine outgear me within a few days of hitting 80, when I had been a fairly constant raider for a while, got to me.
How do you feel? Are you upset cause this game is getting to easy also? Leveling seems like the worst grind, and it shouldnt be that way. :/ it took me more time to get from 73-80 the first time then it did to get all my rogue's gear, the little of it there is. .. man, blizz needs to stop trying to make this game easy enough for the 8 year olds, hell, I am not old enough to drive and I am asking for more skill required for the game... this is just sad. :/
You want to faceroll a healer? roll a priest, shaman, druid, paladin etc. You wana faceroll a DPS? Roll a DK, hunter, mage, paladin, warlock, shaman, priest etc... You wana faceroll a tank? Roll a pretty much anything. you get the point. I have tried different 80s of almost every class between PTRs and friends accounts and it seems like the thing that I had the most difficulty playing was a shadow priest, and I soon found out why. Blizz hates them. This, is why tonight, I quit WoW. Sorry for my ranting..
You're one uninformed person.
I'm glad you quit. Gtfo.

I say because I leveled him in PvP. 73-80 in AV.
I knew what you meant, but you're contradicting yourself all the same. If the game is so incredibly easy, takes absolutely no skill, and gear is just being handed out to you, well then how you level should be a moot point shouldn't it?
In any case, I have no intention of arguing with or flaming you. I was just trying to point out that maybe you should reevaluate what you're saying is making you unhappy here.
Enjoy your break, I think most people that play for any length of time take them at some point. The game will always be here should you decide to return.
