Pre- Big Bang? and The Big Rip?

I was poking around and ran into a philosophical question: What came before the big bang? The best answer science off of the internet in 15 minutes or less could get me was The standard Big Bang model is singular at the time of the Big Bang, t = 0. This means that one cannot even define time, since spacetime is singular. In some models like the chaotic or perpetual inflation favored by Linde, the Big Bang is just one of many inflating bubbles in a spacetime foam. But there is no possibility of getting information from outside our own one bubble.Spacetime foam? Time is singular? What does this change about our understanding of time? If there was no time before the big bang, then how did the big bang arrive (for lack of a better word)?
And then... we have the big rip, which is probably the most interesting thing I have read in a long time. Check out the
wiki page
.
Well... does anyone care to throw in their theory?

Victory - Thanks for staying on topic! That is actually a very interesting possibility.
Damontis - Perhaps.
lostguide - Kindly take your pessimistic, hateful, closed minded opinions, and leave this thread, or get on topic.

That is anything but pessimistic, hateful, closed minded- I was saying that why do you care what happened prior to the Earth being created, better yourself and others and fix what we have. How is that pessimistic or hateful?
Maybe it is my opinion. MAYBE my opinion is that the origions of our universe, the billions of galaxies, and ultimately, life itself, is not a trivial topic for conversation. MAYBE it is ONLY my opinion that this is something noteworthy for us to kick around in this thread.
OR
It could be that it is just stupid for you to come in this thread, and say it is not worth our time, when there are these array of threads on the front page to go in and spit on:
Pokedex
Connect the last letter!
Your theme song!
Whats the stupidest thing you've ever done in-game
Political structures with cows
The Murloc Game!
Perhaps I'm just more than a little peeved at proposing a thought proving thread, and having nay sayers jump on it as a chance to 'zomg this is dumb' whine, when in comparison, this is one of the most perplexing questions humanity has faced
If you have a better idea, say it. If not, go back to recycle bin with your tail between your legs and don't look back.
*breath* whew... I feel better.

I wrote a paper on this IIRC for philosophy, actually =o... let me see about finding someplace to upload it.

Whether you puff it up with fancy scientific words or not, the fact remains that if time did have a beginning, then obviously there was nothing "before" it.
I'm not sure what the issue is?

People enjoy using them. People may not enjoy your threads. Users never say "ZOMG THERE ARE MYTIE'S DEBATE/DISCUSSION THREADS TO GO SPIT ON" So, surely a little common courtesy wouldn't be too much to ask for?
On Topic - I don't know if I believe the Big Bang theory or not. I had never heard of the Big Rip, so I'll read the article now.
I mean, the energy must have come from somewhere, yet the explanation seems to indicate that it just appeared, which makes no sense.

Tens of thousands of scientists much, much more intelligent than you have been spending years trying to debunk the Big Bang theory, and yet for the most part its stood up to their efforts. You're nothing in comparison.
