I've said it once, and I'll keep saying it until I die (or stop playing this game I guess): We should have gone from MoP to Legion.
WoD was nothing but filler, its entire reason for existing was just to bring Gul'dan back, which is something that could and SHOULD have been done in a book.

I have to admit that would be a bit anticlimactic though. And literally the only good part of WoD story was the Khadgar and Gul'Dan storylines. Honestly, WoD would have been so much better if they polished the Iron Horde storyline. The fact the entire Iron Horde was a exercise in failure was such a disappointment.

I just hate that all of the crap that was seen there is now canon and Rise of the Horde is not.

That's perhaps the deepest cut, the deepest wound.
Rise of the Horde, along with Lord of the Clans are my top two favorite warcraft books, and among the hundreds of books I've read in my life, they stand very high among the top 100. And now one of them was made non-canon.....................for this?
and then they nullify all that with the events of the mag'har recruitment scenario.
blergh.

Give it time, the Chronicles will ret-gone all of the books and mangas eventually.

Epiloge is out in the prewiev.
Tl;dr Anduin did nothing wrong and Golden is a unbiased writer.
Hm, how do I make it hover sarcasm when one mouseover "unbiased."

Second Warcraft book I have no intention of picking up, first being Chronicles volume 3.

You shouldn't be surprised Light. More then likely this will be the 'canon' ending of the Lordaeron battle scenario that kicks off the expac. But seen it before; the Shattering, Wolfheart, Twilight of the Aspects, Tides of War and War Crimes. Sorta the Illidan book, even though that was mostly flashbacks and filler.

Just means it's more content they don't have to actually program into the game and make art for.

Let me get this straight. The reason for the entire expansion spanning conflict after the most expensive and destructive war ever WHILE the planet is dying... is in a book?
this is hardly the first time this happened.
The Shattering: Prelude to cataclysm was the bridge between WOTLK and Cata.
And War Crimes was the (sort of) bridge between MoP and WoD.
Anyone who didn't read the former would go "wait, why is cairne dead? Why is garrosh warchief? why is magni a statue? who are these three council thingies?"
And anyone who didn't read the latter would go "Wait, wasn't garrosh in jail? what happened to his trial? why is he out? How is he out? why is Kairoz a bad guy? why are we traveling back in time?"

two things.
First off, its Prologue. A prologue is the introduction to the story proper. The Epilogue goes at the end and serves to wrap up the story after its over.
Secondly, to make words hover when you mouseover text you have to use the acronym tag following this structure:
actual text
(Remove the spaces though)
Example: Hola
Sorta the Illidan book, even though that was mostly flashbacks and filler.
Nah, you could skip the illidan book entirely and not miss much. The actual bridge between WoD and Legion was handled much better, via the animated shorts, and the audiobooks. The illidan book only served to foreshadow Xe'ra and that's done in the game too.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Rankkor##DELIM##

The Illidan book also explained how the Demon Hunters came to be as well as what they were doing before you actually start them.

ya, but all of that is optional information. Would the plot of legion make any less sense if one skipped the book? nope. I skipped it until I was in like patch 7.2 and I understood everything just fine.
Whereas the jump from Wrath to cata, and pandaria to draenor simply makes ZERO sense without reading their respective books.

But rank, the epiloge is out, the ending.
http://www.wowhead.com/news=284452/before-the-storm-amazon-preview-spoilers
the last few pages.
And a bunch of mid chapter stuff.
And I have to agree with light. I have no intrest in reading what I am seeing so far.
For starters, it seems to want to paint Sylvanas as evil. No no, not her regular, pragmatic, ruthless and calculating evil that can work in mutual benefit. But cartonish evil and tyranical.
Anduin is holer that jesus confirmed. And it seems the divine bell gave him some sort of spider sense to be goodier?
And Jaina and Kalec are dating again.
Yeah...

Since 14 is down for a 24 hour maintenance, I'm actually playing Beta...and I realized why the Mag'har have so many clan choices; it goes with their racial Ancestral Call which provides a random buff from the Blackrock, Warsong, Laughing Skull or Shadowmoon clan.

Ugh, I want to throw something.
Flavour quest from the Nation of Kul Tiras quest line:
Kul Tiras is the greatest navel power in Azeroth, and a former ally. But we've had little contact with them since Jaina's father, Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, was defeated at Theramore.
Many have criticized Jaina's decision that day, saying she believed so deeply in the promise of peace between the Alliance and the Horde that she betrayed her own father.
Perhaps she feels the time has to come to atone to this.
Loathe as I am to put Jaina in harm's way...Kul Tiras must join the Alliance.
~
Seriously, ^&*! off with this Anduin.

Not sure I see the issue here Adamsm. Sounds about right, and actually shows Anduin has some stones to not take Jaina's !@#$.

I know that the whole expac is 'war is declared' and yes Anduin is being aggressive and Jaina's new stance is 'rage roar rage'...but she stopped her father from committing genocide, which would have screwed the world over so many freaking times as without the Horde, one of the many threats would have destroyed the world. But acting like she feels like she has to atone, come on; she felt horrible about killing her father, but she did the right thing at the time. They need to remember what happened before rather than just being so slipshod.
On the other hand, did both version of the Battle of Lordaeron, and the Horde is longer but that's expected, but the Alliance has the better pay off.
Saurfang will have none of Sylvanas Blight use/necromancy and attempts to perform death by combat with the Alliance forces....and Anduin doesn't kill him. He does arrest him and puts him in prison though, which makes the later scenario where you break into the Stocks to free some prisoners and find Varok there, who tells you he isn't leaving because he hates what the Horde is now...of course, you were breaking into free the Zandalari so there is that. Still, good on Saurfang for not supporting what Sylvanas is doing for the 'good of the Horde', especially since she threatened to raise Saurfang up as an undead if he died in the Battle.
