I...doubt that one is true; just because if they did that, that means Horde loses out on all of the Dalaran stuff, since if the Kirin Tor goes Alliance, all NPC's in the city would be against them.
Game mechanics, same reason why Rhonin is still in Dalaran despite being dead lore-wise, they never updated Northrend so I assume that'll be the justification.
But...when the Northrend revamp rolls around, there goes the Sanctuary city; again, calling this one untrue, same as the Rommanth one back from the Cata days. Not all data mining makes it into the game.
not just the Rommanth one, the benedictus one didn't happened the way the datamined files indicated either. Originally he was to be publicly exposed by varian and the people. Ingame his exposure was much more contained, to the point that the church is actively covering it up, and denying it ever happened.
So that's 2 bucketloads of leaked soundfiles that never actually happened, along with even more soundfiles of the never-implemented alliance intro to twilight highlands (they ended up scraping the whole thing and instead have the drunk dwarf fly you there while you black out).
so that's 3 bucketloads of soundfiles that are still buried there in the data even today, though they never used them.
I'm wary about many of these spoilers, first and foremost because as skree said, its too much. Its too extreme. Varian was willing to start the fourth war when his best friend Bolvar was killed, if anyone so much looks at Anduin the wrong way, he may as well turn himself into the sha of anger.

I just remembered something:
Firelands invasion. Leyara attacked and "killed" hamuul. (complete with hamuul's NPC body going "dead")
She 100% believed he had died, but turns out he was
Only Mostly Dead
and came back at the eleventh hour to save the asses of everyone.
This could be what happens to Anduin, he gets blasted (we still don't know the specifics of his "death") away in a big explosion, everyone believes him dead, and we likely wont see him again for a couple of patches, only for him to return at the eleventh hour and pull a "gandalf" on us
I just can't really swallow such a big character getting offed, no way no how. Specially given his big character development recently.

You know, I'be been thinking...
I think MoP will be WoW's last expansion.
Now bear with me. I don't think Blizzard will kill their golden goose. Warcraft will continue.
But think about this: A real update for Outland and Northrend (i.e. one that factors in Cataclysm, and isn't just all the quests rewritten with flimsy explanations for why we've doing the same thing) would take an expansion level update. On top of that, Theramore is gone and Orgrimmar will have been raided. Dalaran will be Alliance only. We'll have a new Warchief. And WoW's technical specs are looking very dated.
I think a WoW2 following MoP is quite possible. They could design it from the base up with the updated world, remake Outland and Northrend with new goals and quests. New character models on a better engine.
Maybe it's not in the cards, but it seems more likely to me than trying to simultaneously make a fifth expansion set, revamp Outland and Northrend in a way that makes sense to a new player starting in Cataclysm, and make it all look as good as competing MMOs on an engine built prior to 2004.
The next Blizzcon is in 2013. With Diablo 3 and Heart of the Swarm out of the way, e could very well get news regarding a sequel.
But perhaps I'm speculating too hard.

Dalaran will be Alliance only. I still doubt this is going to happen; it's entirely possible that Jaina may have declared it so, but without backing from the other members of the 6, she can talk till she's blue in the face and it won't mean squat.
I think a WoW2 following MoP is quite possible.I also doubt this will ever occur; just because unless they are willing to port over everyone's character lists, you'd see a lot of grumbling and anger over it.
As for the Outland revamp(which has been confirmed) easy enough to update it to whatever expansion involves the return of the Legion, and the Northrend revamp could occur when Bolvar finally makes his move(or you know, Sylvanas goes completely ape *!@# and tries to steal the Crown for herself, since as that horribly written leader story said, she knows about the swap in command for the Scourge).

Meh, Runescape ported all the characters from Runescape Classic into Runescape 2. /shrug
I'm just saying what seems likely to me. Fact is, WoW is dated, and it looks it. You can dress up your 2004 humans in all the fancy MoP gear you want, it's still pretty obviously dated.
Even if they just slap a major engine update on over the existing game, for WoW to compete with newer MMOs, it's gonna need a tech update.
Edit: As for Outland and Northrend, yoir talking expansion level quest updates, while simply recycling the environments. Cataclysm changed the landscape and opened up several previously inaccessible zones, but Northrend and Outland are already filled in. That would be hard to market as an expansion pack (The Burning Crusade 2 and Wrath of the Lich King 2? Play in the same zones as before, but with new quests!)
It would take the work of an expansion, but could only really be delivered as a patch, it a subset of a bigger expansion.

I, personnally, don't want an Outlands revamp. A Northerend revamp is fine with me, and I could care less if Dalaran became an Alliance-only city, since Horde would probably get their own place somewhere.
But Outlands is simply the best part of leveling. Each and every zone is amazing, no matter how many times I go through them. It saddens me every time they nerf the experiance needed and make it go by faster, and it really upset me when they nerfed all the group quests. I don't even want to imagine it getting sent through what the Vanilla zones were.
Outlands is just too good to Revamp.
(Unless, like, Outlands stays, and fo level 90-95 or something you go to a differend phased Outlands that takes place later.)

Actually, I thoroughly enjoy Outlands every time I go through it.

Sections of Outland are fine...but Terrokar, Blades Edge, Hellfire, and the middle sections of Netherstorm and Shadowmoon suck massively; they need updates to show what is going on there, since the idea you are still fighting Kael's or Illidan's forces is a bit much at this point.
As for how/why those revamps could fit in; the max level for both could be about 'new' worlds, while the revamps are to show what is happening to cause said new world issues to happen: IE Outland revamp occurs as the Legion makes a come back and we end up going to the first of the Legion conquered worlds from there.

Welp, at least he's back to writing the non-essential stuff. It was hard bring out of the loop on Stormrage and Wolfheart, but not so hard I would actually read them.

meh, those were non-essential books too. You could skip both of those and miss almost nothing important.
Unlike The Shattering which was perhaps THE most crucial book about the game. Or Twilight of the aspects which had several important revelations too.
As much as it pains me to say it, Tides of War is important too.
But Knaak hasn't really written any key important book about warcraft other than Day and Night of the Dragon.

Honestly? It's so rarely brought up that Illidan and Kael are around that it's easy enough to view their forces like the remainder of the Scarlet Crusade hanging around.
Now, Northerend just gets silly. Because Sylvannas tells you a whole story about the fall of Arthas, then sixty levels later, he's showing up to taunt you in every quest...

Not completely true; Stormrage was important as it was about the return of Malfurion, as well as letting us see more of Baine being badass. Wolfheart was important because it reveals just how the Worgens got in and some of the start of darkness that Garrosh is moving on; IE without the forced conscription of the Magnataurs, we wouldn't have the Fire Giants and Krakens used in Tides of War. No book, except for Cycle of Hatred, is non-essential; all of them add to the Lore.
Edit: And you could skip Twilight of the Aspects, since beyond the last 3 chapters, the rest of it is pure filler about the 'problem of Thrall'...sigh.
Honestly? It's so rarely brought up that Illidan and Kael are around that it's easy enough to view their forces like the remainder of the Scarlet Crusade hanging around.Well...except for when Kael or Illidan taunt you....and you hear their commanders talking about them...and all of the rest =P.

Dude you really have it against her don't you? She's a great writer, while I can admit that her skill at building a proper romance stinks, and her last novel was terrible, this doesn't undermines her spotless work on just about every novel she's written, from Rise of the Lich King, to Rise of the Horde, Lord of the Clans, The Shattering, and yes, even Twilight of the Aspects (excluding of course, every page where Aggra is mentioned, those are tainted beyond saving)
Having said this, I really hope they are a bit more consistent this time with the release date and avoid pushing it back as much as they did with Tides of War.

Rank, she's gone steadily downhill; whether it's burn out or what, the fact is her recent stuff isn't as good as the old stuff...and while the Shattering is an okay book, that's where it started; she was fine when it came to things like Rise of the Horde and Lord of the Clans, but there were a lot of parts of Rise of the Lich King that were weak: The romance plot tumour of Arthas and Jaina, the rival with Kael(and making Kael a border-line pedophile....). And Twilight of the Aspects might have well been in small print, since the book was THRALL! 85% of the time, while everyone else was just there to be helped/moved/admired him =P.
Sorry, but while she still a good writer, her recent work has stunk. And at least Warrior Made was good from the Legends Manga.
