And really, the only reason people have a problem with her is that they hate that there is an actual strong female character in the game.
That.... is completely and totally false.
Hyper (our token female, FYI) hates Sylvannas, despite normally loving strong female characters.
And, simply put, I don't think ANYONE here would hate a character for that reason.

Just given this post here makes me more inclined to believe that the wow community in general has a problem with a female character who is independent and strong.
...
How so?
I personnally love action girls, and love Sylvannas.
Hell, look over my RP characters. Sasha, Vivias... I have action chicks out the wazoo.

I don't understand this, at all. Can you please explain?
Because referring to someone as a token, that's totally socially acceptable. Pretend for a minute that they were referring to a black person in that fashion.
Before Gum showed back up she called herself that on her own userpage... <.<

I'd like to ask that everyone please stay on topic. Bringing up real-world comparisons only instigates possible debates that aren't constructive for the topic at hand.
Thank you.

No problem Sas, we were more trying to nip it in the bud than anything.
Sorry if we worried you.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##sas148##DELIM## :P

Token Russian here, and I think that Jaina-
Wait, that will get ignored since she's Alliance. Off the top of my head, could it be that Horde has a lot of strong female characters that the fandom (us included) loves? Hmm...
So, Liadrin! And Zaela. And Aponi. And Zen'Tabra. And Gorgonna. And Sassy Hardwrench...
But mostly Liadrin.

You forgot the Tallest goblin who runs the Slums all on her own while Gallywix picks out new wallpaper.

Also, reading through TVTropes and was on the Karma Houdini page for Video Games; only three examples currently on it from World of Warcraft: Grom Hellscream, Trade Prince Gallywix and well....Sylvanas. She's under suspicion for the wrathgate (we don't know how much she knew), betrayed and murdered Garithos and his men, invaded Gilneas, nuked Southshore, waged a campaign of genocide on the Humans, manipulated the Horde (to join them in the first place in order to use them as tools), set herself up as an object of cult worship, employed the Val'kyr (which seems to be a case of "Even Chaos has standards" when seen by pragmatic Death Knight Thassarian), resurrected those who she killed against their will, experimented on her own citizens and children, used cruel and unusual punishment, was insubordinate when she defied orders not to use the plague, used biological weapons, taken hostages, killed civilians, shot and killed Liam Greymane, attempted to steal the Scythe of Elune to enslave the Worgen and make even more to make an even BIGGER army to do her bidding, and made some kind of deal with the devil to get the Val'kyr in the first place. Unfortunately, she's a Draco in Leather Pants (despite being an undead corpse) so a lot of fans, particularly Horde players, deny that she's evil and start bringing up things like moral nihilism when called on it.

Did that article just claim she experimented on her own children?

Yeah it's one those who must still believe that the human woman in Rise of the Lich King was a child; that part I can admit is just more hype...and bad writing since it should have been 'her own people and on children'.

I accept she is evil, but I still love Syl... <.< >.>
But, it's a little questionable if pre-cata she was a Karma Houdini (She's totally one in Cata, I'll admit.)
She was murdered by the scourge, enslaved by Arthas after being raised into undeath, forced to break free and free the many other Forsaken, when she tried to work with the alliance she found herslef paired with (From what I've heard) the biggest bigotted @#$%^& in their entire army, she had her two second in commands stab her in the back, use her own weapon against her, and attempt to steal her city, and she was forced to kill a LOT of her own people who had sided with them.
And then, on top of this all, her single goal in undeath was stolen from her; to kill the Lich King.
So, a lot of her more questionable acts before Cata seemed to be paired off with a lot of pretty bad things happening to her.

Of course, she set up that weapon in the first place, as well as believing herself to actually have the Dreadlord under her command and thumb just because she 'made' him kill another of his kind, shows she made a large number of mistakes...and she is still making them all through Cata and will probably keep going on and on with them.
But as she had no purpose in Tides of War(I mean that literally) since her role there could have been replaced by any Forsaken(same as Lor'themar), we can't really tell what she'll be doing in MoP.
