Considering much of the expansion is happening in tune with the Old Gods (what with, y'know, Cho'gall making a comeback, etc.) I don't mind that... just wish Blizzard would stop with pushing the Old Gods as the source of all evil. *grumbles about the assassination of King Llane being shown as part of Yogg's madness*
and that he rested deep within the Earth (plane), where the Old Gods are kept buried, why are you so surprised?Far as I can recall, they aren't tied to the Earth Plane of the Elemental realms; that's the main reason why Therazane is helping us: Deathwing, after resting in her home to heal and rejuv, screwed it up big time. Betting she's pissed heh.
Also, who's to say Deathwing isn't playing them? Again. Here's hoping.

I am just hoping to see in the fight against Deathwing and old god needs help for whatever reason or something along that line and he just turns around and says "Y'all just got punked" *lava breath*

I also think this is building into an Old God centered expansion after Cataclysm. You see with Deathwing causing the Cataclysm and "breaking" the world the bonds that had imprisoned the Old Gods beneath Azeroth might have weakened. There are evidence of this as a lot of Old God minion presence have recently appeared in place where it wasn't before (Swamp of Sorrow, Ashenvale, Stonetalon Mountains). That leads me to think that after we kill Deathwing we will have to take on one or more Old Gods (probably the Three that made the pact for escaping their prison).

Since Deathwing and the Twilight's Hammer (led by Cho'gall) are the main antagonists of the expansion, I don't think Old Gods being involved is a very big surprise.
One thing I'm curious about is who
the master
Gall keeps talking about is. Could either be C'thun or a new Old God I suppose.

I suppose Cho'Gall is still C'thun Mouthpiece even if he failed to resurrect his master's body.

You know of course, in the next expansion, we're going up against the Dark God of the Murlocs right?

Does that mean that the Murloc leader is the He of the Great ...?
I really hope not....
