Delt's foolish question of the month:
Wowwiki's Dath'remar Sunstrider article says: "he did not rule, the king retained a modicum of political power", is this true?
I would take it with a grain of salt, at best. There's no source for it, and other sources indicate otherwise as far as Elven leadership goes.

And it's obvious the King of Stormwind doesn't have absolute power, or else Onyxia's manipulation of the House of Nobles wouldn't have been nearly as effective as it was.
Or, as his most trusted advisors and him going through a bit of a down phase at the time, he acted more on what their advice was. Not to mention while he was gone they probably held much more power.

Sorry, forgot about that. That raises another question: The House of Nobles still exists?
Apart from Stormwind, Daralan and Quel'thalas, it seems that every ruler has absolute power then?
I think the Nobles are gone... or at least, not the corrupt body they were prior to start of Warcraft/Onyxia's final play. And some of the Nobles power came from Onyxia and her spells; without those, it's more then likely everything that happened would have. Dalaran though, seems to have changed; the original 6 are dead/gone, and from what it's shown in Wrath, it only seems like there is four at most: Red-Haired, Modera, Aethas and one of those in Crystalsong, though it's possible there are still 2 more out there somewhere.

Ansirem Runeweaver might have been downranked but still a member of the Six.
Or suffered from 'black hole' syndrome; the writers forget about him heh.

Runeweaver square?
That would be the most awkward 'black hole syndrome'.
/shrug; they did make Rhonin the new leader of the Tor after all.

Heh, I know, I re-read his page, and that more then anything is why it's a black hole; the Kirin Tor forces in Alterac and Silverpine are attackable by the Horde, yet they are allied with them in Northrend lol. Just seems like they didn't think it all through is all.

More or less "A greater threat has shown up!" situation. But, unlike the Alliance and Horde, the Kirin Tor arn't blinded by hate enough to try and solve it on their own.
