Alright then, Lore Question.
Say we defeat Neptulon and kill him, take whatever super-weapon he has. Would it be plausable for another elemental to take up the mantle of water-overlord?

But that practically means every bloke we kill can be succeeded, making everything we do useless unless we destroy something as a whole.

I'm sure someone could take up the mantle of the lieutenant of the Old God's, but I don't think he'd inherit his power, so destroying Neptulon would still be a powerful blow against the waters.

BUT, if we do get to kill Neptulon in Cata, will Blizz go
"HURR HURR THERE MUST ALWAYS BE A
LICH KING
ELEMENTAL LORD OOOOOH PWETTY COLOURS!"
I don't think it's going to be anything like that.
If anything we'll see it as a hierarchy type system, like the Dragons have. So, after Ragnaros or Neptulon are killed, the next in line will rise up to take their respective places.

If you can actually kill an Elemental Lord for good; they are a Primal force of existence. It could be like Ragnaros originally; we kill him and desummon him from Azeroth, it might happen again at Hyjal; we kill him and send him and Neptulon back to the Elemental Planes.

But isn't the Abyssal Maw the elemental plane of water? Would that mean we burn all of our CD's and down him after an hour with half of our raid dead only to have him respawn the next second? Blizz could !@#$ alot of people of like that.

Actually I don't think that Neptulon is in the Abyssal Maw, he was already summoned by something.
The Troll Empire... the Gurubashi I think heh. But for the purpose of Cata, the Maw is extending into Azeroth, same as the other planes, and Neptulon is probably within it.

So basically, all of the Elemenalt Lords we'll be fighting aren't in their respecive planes, but rather in an extension of that pllane into Azeroth?

I don't think its an extension but rather the entire plane.
I think we'll be fighting in an extension for some, and full for another. I seriously doubt they could fit the entire plane of the Abyssal Maw into a single raid instance, however it seems there will be several zones in Deepholme. I wonder what's happening with the Skywall...

It's a portal to the Firelands opening in Hyjal, and yeah, all of Deepholme is rising; but more then likely it's just a portion of the Maw connected to the Naga area.... as for Skywall, who knows heh.
