I don't seem to have many issues holding aggro as fairly new 80 tank, HOWEVER, there are always those circumstances when the *%&@ hits the fan and one of my party members is getting beat on.
I like to use taunt, but find its use cumbersome and I suspect that is because I don't understand the proper targeting mechanics. If party member 4 has gained aggro, what is the best way to quickly taunt the mob off him? How do I target the mob that has him targeted other than manually clocking on the chevron of the mob.
What if there are mutliple mobs on him?

4th party member, press F5 and
Taunt
the target of target or use a mouseover macro.
Multiple mobs, if ranged,
Intervene
and
Challenging Shout
.
If your
Taunt
misses in melee range, fall back on
Mocking Blow
.

If I target a party member, let's say the Healer, won't the target of my target most likely end up being myself, rather than the mob that is attacking the healer?

If your healer takes aggro...

Right. I use the same Intervene/Focus trick. It works great, and not that I use it all that often, but I'd probably use it even less if I could "conveniently" execute a taunt. My thinking there is that with a taunt, I can stand my ground, stay focused on what mobs are under control and not cause any positioning grief to my DPS.
If a mob gets pulled off by a DPS or is outside my initial aggro grab.. and I see it.. I'll taunt it back. If my taunt misses or I don't see it and I don't hear a cry for help in voice-chat.. well then he is on his own. :)
And you to taunt it back, you are physically doing a mouse click on the mob chevron?
The hard case for me is when someone gains aggro, in order to taunt the mob, I have to find the person, and then see what is attacking him. That takes time and effort. Hence, my pondering whether there was an easier way.
Ultimately, I think I take the same road as you. I always try and save the healer. If it's DPS and obvious, I'll do something about it. If it's DPS and not obvious, my tendency is to keep my focus on the mobs under control and let the healer worry about him.

Yup. Used Glyph of Cleave while I was leveling also. My favorite glyph.
I like the idea of Heroic Throw on X. I'll have to experiment with that.
What do you do with groups that contains casters? My current strategy is to aggro them, run behind a corner so I line of sight them (and hope DPS can hold their horses), wait for them to get close and then TC, SW to interrupt casters and get into normal routine..
