For a while now, I have been unable to upload my data. I thought I wouldn't bother with it but now I have come to think that it's enough.
When I click on upload in the Client, it starts the upload but after about 2% the upload speed dies down and then completely stops, but no error messages or anything come up.
I am running on Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 3.

I took the firewall off completely and also rebooted it. Personally, I think it might be the Client itself since it hasn't been updated since January I think. Well... I will email Malgayne and see what he says about it. Whether or not it needs updating at all. Thank you for all your help though.

I've had a similar issue. From time to time (not always, I have successfully updated without making any changes to my system during the course of the problem) it begins to upload, gets to between 7%-12%, and then just hangs.
I remember it happening when I upgraded (updated?) to Windows 7. At the time I basically marked it up as the client having some issues with W7 and decided to just hang out and wait for W7 to be officially released (I'm using the latest RC) and then see if the problem stopped. Today, however, I decided to investigate a little further and see if maybe I could change something on my system to get it to work all the time, which lead me to this thread.
Remember, nothing on my system has changed. I haven't updated firewall, router, or anything settings. The client has previously (since I've upgraded to Windows 7) worked, but randomly does not work. I've tried for the past day or so to upload the data, but I get to 11% and it stops. WHich leads me to believe that the portion of data that is prepped for upload at around 11% (could be anything, I know) is hanging the client.
Edit: Typing is easy. Typing correctly, is not! (yes, I suck at typing enough to warrant 3 edits.)

This is nothing new. In fact the issue is quite common and I'm suffering from it too. The problem seemed to be with AVG antivirus, and if you're using it, turn off link scanning and web shield temporarily before submitting data through the client to allow the process to complete. Having switched to Nod32 recently, I'm now again unable to contribute.

I had the problem you mentioned on my previous laptop, which was running XP professional SP2. Now I'm on a laptop with Vista Premium and never encountered the problem.
@KidB: I had/have NOD32 on both of the systems, so it might not be the anti-virus.

I don't know what it is. I just think it's something to do with the Client being really out of date and because systems keep getting updated, something in those updates might of changed and therefore messed up the Wowhead Client. Which ever I am not bothered. I think you can actually just email Malgayne a certain file which has all the info on it. I don't know which file like but if one of the mods told me it would be nice.
Also for the anti-virus issue, I just turned my AVG Free off and it still didn't work. Just hanging on 2% still.

When you run the Client, it updates itself before it does anything else. This appears to be a disagreement between AVG and some other antivirus programs that we've never been able to trace.
If an especially tech-savvy user has time, possibly next week, to hop into IRC and discuss this problem for a bit, we may be able to more accurately reproduce the issue.

I switched off the link scanning (yes, I use AVG-Free) and it seemed to work, but like I said before it randomly works from time to time so I can't be sure that turning the AV off did any good.
I'm attempting to recreate the issue. I'll find out more and post about it when I can.
Edit: I just successfully uploaded data without having link scanning off.
