I play warrior and i usually consider myself a rather descent tank, i can do geat dps while tanking, i can hold group of mobs against aoers and dpsers can always go all out.
But tanking the arena at Thorim, how is that possible? Mobs spawn everywhere, legions of them, dps has to nuke them fast, i can hold one group of several mobs thats being aoed, but not three groups that are spread out while picking up loads of mobs on the loose. That is a rather big area to cower.
Should i focus on the big mobs? Any hints for tanking that would be appreciated.
And second, at Anub in toc10 i tank the Nerubians, a rather relaxing job, pick up a add or two, bash it, keep stack of devastate fresh on anub. But when he burrows and those spike things starts chasing people around, theres both nerubians and several small beetles.
The beetles debuff me, i get a debuff that makes me take huge damage from the nerubians, i cant hold while keeping them stunned (shockwave and cc blow has cds, intercept forces me to stance dance, making me lose rage and often agg) and kill them fast enough to not get debuffed, and the debuff stacks up.
What should i do on those?

I have yet to see those fights, but you can intercept in defensive stance, if you have warbringer that is.
I can charge (1 sec stun) with warbringer in def stance, but to access another stun, the intercept, 3secs, i have to be in zerker.

First of all, Thorim.
If your job is to tank the 'arena' then all you have to do is grab snap aggro. If dps pull it off you there is a dps imbalance in the arena team. All mobs SHOULD die before they get pulled from you. If this is not the case, do not fault yourself as a tank. Just keep at it and look to who is pulling mobs away from you. Either vigilance them or ask them to focus mainly on the 'bigger' mobs instead of the smaller trash.
As for Anub'Arak.
You said yourself that Phase 1 is not a problem. Phase 2 how ever is where the trouble starts. Basic rule of thumb here is to have the nerubian burrowers killed before or a few seconds after he has burrowed. Not doing so will complicate phase 2 more than it's worth. As for the little mobs, taunt and kite them around, stun when necessary ( 'Enraged' skitters can't be stunned ) try not to let them hit you or you get the annoying stackable dot. Keep them kited .. shouldn't be too hard as they only have approx 18k hp. What we foun best is to have al lthe ranged stack up on 1 perma frost pew pew'ing the little mobs while the tanks where taunting, running, stunning, etc etc wuth the melee close behind. The reason we had all ranged stack on 1 frost was because of anub'arak targets a ranged and gets 'stunned' by the ice, if we're lucky enough he'll target another ranged and get re-stunned. Giving us more time to shift to the next frost. ( It's not necessary, but it makes the fight so so much easier than it is ).
Quick sum up: Make sure the Nerubians are killed before Anub'Arak submerges, and kite the small adds if necessary.

warbringer
makes you able to charge, intercept and intervene while in combat and in any stance.
haha, thanks! i seriously didnt know that, thought it was just charge. 1 extra stun, without losing rage, thanks!

At the risk of being flamed, you might want to switch tanking rolls for Thorim. In the gauntlet only a few adds come at a time and they come from directly in front of you - where warrior threat is most concentrated. If your other tank is a Paladin, DK or Druid, they're probably better suited to the arena.
Of course it all depends on gear. The second mini-boss in the gauntlet can put out some hefty damage, so the tank in there will need a health pool not to be scoffed at.
As for Anubarak, I wouldn't have the faintest idea. :)

The DPS in your raid should just kill the beetles and get used to it. On anub10 heroic you can't taunt them, or other way make them attack you.
About the Nerubians, we have 2 people in 10man heroic to kill them and the AoE melee does. This is enough to kill them easy.
I can't really remember what we did on normal mode, it was just facerolling :)

all squishies in hall, all others in arena (generally melee)
priority is to pick up the big ones and make sure no adds are on healers, unless one melee dps pulls all little adds it's really no problem if you lose aggro on one or more. it's very healable.
also let everyone center in middle so you don't have to run around to pick up adds, but make sure to either taunt torim fast when he lands or that the dps and healers move b4 he lands
as for anub you should have some dps on adds, you should never be tanking more then one since they get a heafty dmg increase if they stand next to eachother which they will in 10 man bc you're only off tank.
as for the little adds when he burrows, dps should just nuke em fast, there is no need whatsoever for you to tank em, they hit for nothing, even mages can tank those and not die. just crucial the die fast so you don't get to many debuffs

For Thorim's arena, you only need to worry about Warbringers and Champions. The rest do very little damage, even to cloth. Thunder Clap (which you should be using every cooldown) will pick them up. Just blow all your ranged abilities (charge, intervene, heroic throw, taunt) on those big ones.
Other than that, all you need to do is try to help interrupt/shield slam dispel the evokers/acolytes (can't remember which kind is in the hall and which is in the arena... the casters).
If you still have trouble, have another plate DPSer help try to keep these things under control (something like a DK or a Ret paladin are probably your best options here as they can pick stuff up at range without losing DPS)

Regarding the small beetles when he's underground. There is no need to tank them, just taunt and keep out of range or slow them.
They die fast and without any issues.
