Trying wow in windows 7 no addons show up

is there something in windows 7 that prevents addons from working?

Nope, i'm running it as we speak, have been playing wow non-stop to test it. It works perfectly.
It may have the same permissions issues as Vista, If you did a clean install your addon folder is not located at C:\Program Files\World Of Warcraft\Interface\Addons, But it is actually located in C:\Users\<user name>\... (and i cant remember the rest), but give that a try.

In Windows 7, the correct path is
C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\

Your world of warcraft program should be in the Program Files x86 folder. Then put your add ons into the Interface - Addon section.
