Since patch 3.2, I've gone 22-0, 28-0, and 34-0 in Alterac Valley with my Rogue.
A rogue has to work for his survivability not just go charging in spamming attacks like the majority of other classes.
As your survivability isnt passive. Not really fun, i suspect that why rogue is the least played class now.
This. I know it's cheap, but I usually don't fight someone if my
Vanish
is on cooldown. That's why I never die. But isn't that the advantage of my class? As Rogues, we get to pick our battles? I know, it involves using one's brain and both tactical/strategical thinking.
Taken from Blizzard's Q&A on Rogues:Q. What is it that makes them unique compared to all other classes?
A: Rogues have a complex resource system with the balance between energy and combo points, and rely on active abilities to respond to situations rather than passive effects. This leads to a very interesting tension between planning out what you’re going to do ahead of time and reacting to proc-based resource gains (energy/combo points from things like Combat Potency, Relentless Strikes, and Ruthlessness), and rationing your active timers and abilities to survive.
I constantly am managing my cooldowns as a Rogue. Managing cooldowns while moving and getting in melee range while paying attention to the stealth battle, that's the fun of the Rogue class! :P I believe most Rogues became DK's more than any other class, that's why Rogues are the least played class according to census data.
But back to the topic: Paladins and Warriors are still the best counters to Rogues. They can survive our burst pretty well and yet counter it with high damage/bleeds of their own. Don't believe people who say DK. Rogues can use CoS against their magic DoTs, Deathgrip helps us get closer to them, etc. DK's can survive our burst but can't do much afterward. When I play my Rogue, Paladins and Warrios are the biggest threats. Also worth mentioning are Survival Hunters and Frost Mages; they can be very slippery.
But also on topic, yet countering it, skill is needed to counter a class that has an advantage on you. The classes I just listed, Paladin, Warrior, Hunter, and Mage, can all be beaten if you play well. And vice versa. And the game balance changes all the time. If you want to be a good PvP player, don't just pick a class because the class is good, pick something you like and master it and play it like nobody else has played that class before. With talent specs, races, gear, trinket choices, there are many opportunities to be unique.
Hope this helped. =)

I don't know about you guys, but my resto shaman (with stacked resilience) does great against rogues. I drop earthbind and cleansing, make sure my earth shield is up and stays up, and put my back against a wall so I don't get sapped. All I do is outlast the initial burst; rarely do I trinket it. Then I cast a riptide, maybe an instant healing wave if they are good, and I'm at a reasonable health level again. It's also fun to put a flame shock on the rogue so that it can't stealth and kite it with ghost wolf. But one of the best anti-rogue defenses is resilience.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section. Me and some friends are trying to figure out what we're going to make for Worgen early, so we can start farming Stone Keeper's Shards for the Bind on Account stuff.
LOL. Well I'm gonna go ahead and assume if you are farming these, you can have every shoulder/chest/wep boa for every class seeing how you have 14 months lol...

Honestly, it all comes down to playstyle.
Yes, as a rogue, I cannot run into a battle and just slice around until I get kills, pressing buttons as they pop up. If I want to do that, I hop on my warrior. Rogues have the element of surprise and can pick their own battles. If you plan it out well and utilize your cooldowns, you are gonna have few problems surviving any fight you go into.
Arena, though, can be trickier, because BGs have much more space to utilize and maneuver in. Arena requires more teamwork and coordination to work, but then again, that can be said of any class.
What is comes down to in BGs, is skill and patience. In arena, its teamwork and coordination.

If you want to insult people, try somewhere else.
If you PvP as Affliction, expect problems with rogues. You want to get a chance, go destruction. Very simple. Babbling about counterclass when it is counterSPEC will only make you seem foolish.
Also, I don't really see what is so unbelievably hard to require perfect play on Open's strategy. Maybe the Shadowfury on vanish, but really, Shadowfury's range is enough to allow a bit of time to react.
Edit: Also, go with your steriotypes to somewhere else as well. Why does 13 years old Warrior diminishes one's ability to play/understand? I know some 12s in game that I wish many 16+ had a pleasant chat with. Falacies usually are used in a stealthy way. Throwing it up like that only makes your argument immature and inconsistant.
And by your last statement... You said nothing constructive. You leave us 1 option, right?
