Were the frost nerfs as terrible as everyone makes it sound?

The changes were not class/spec-killing. They're just noob-killing.
We're not as powerful and can't be as reckless as we were before but we're still pretty good.
Frost strike nerf just requires you to actually have to worry about expertise a bit and the other two changes just mean you can't use a cooldown as frequently (which I never used in heroics anyways), or can't expect as much passive mitigation.

in some ways the nerfs were bad but not so bad that they killedthe thought of DK tanks.
The nerfs to our toughness made it so that we have less armor than other classes. since other tanks use shield they recieve that armor boost whereas we get none from our two handers.
the icebound fortitude nerf only really hurt the less experienced tanks who used it as a "OH #$%^" button, but if you know how to play then even with the 2 minute cd if you use it as soon as it comes off cd as your rotation should allow then you will be taking less damage throughout the fight instead of just when you are about to die.
One other nerf that you are not mentioning is the frost presence change from 10% health to 6% stamina. this actually hurt the weak LESS then the better geared seeing as how the less stamina you have the less health you will be losing (1k at the most) whereas i have heard of fully ulduar geared DKs going from 36k to 33k which when you are tanking any raid boss is pretty significant.
The way i see it the nerfs made us take more damage then other tanks and have less health to deal with that increased damage. Thus decreasing our survivability.

it seems the patch was mostly nerfing noobs, the 10% health to 6% stam was a hit since you no longer gain more from +health and +stam chants/buffs, only +stam chants/buffs now.
the revamped ardent defender is a bit much, the thought of buffing that talent was fine but a cheat death mechanic on a tank was a bit of overkill and uncalled for.

IBF pre nerf was @30% dmg reduction every 1 minute. I'd have rather seen them nerf it to a straight 20% and leave it at 1 minute. Making it the equal of Druids barkskin.
Blood tanking is still decent, but Frost and Unholy are inferior to similar geared warriors and vastly inferior to Pallys atm.

Honestly, its not as bad as people say, frost is still perfectly viable, you just need the right gear. You don't get free threat without having to cap expertise anymore but you should have done that anyway. Sure we lost some health, but we had more than we should have anyway, death knights with more health that druids is just wrong. The IBF nerf was just anoying for tanking Vezax, but thats easily gotten around. Frankly, I don't have any trouble tanking any bosses from current content and can still pull 6-8k tps with raid buffs.
I hate being nerfed as much as the next guy, being THE tanking class was great, but we were overpowered and we had it coming.

I have the exact same melee reduction from armor as out warrior tank now, yes he can block, but I have 10% more avoidance. Its not as bad as you make it out.
