Which heirloom item should I get?

I'd like to make my next alt a Warrior, and I have enough Stone Keeper's Shards to get just one heirloom item. The choice is between:
Strengthened Stockade Pauldrons
Battleworn Thrash Blade
Reforged Truesilver Champion
On the one hand, the shoulders are the obvious choice for faster leveling regardless of spec. However, I have the 10% shoulders on another alt, and the difference isn't noticeable to me. (I level using Jame's Leveling Guide, just FYI.) And I don't have a lot of cash to constantly upgrade weapons, so my reasoning is that having an automatically "at-level" weapon for the Warrior would ultimately mean faster leveling
anyway
. So I am leaning toward a weapon, but which one?
The ultimate goal/purpose of the character is to be a Protection Warrior. In fact, my preference is to even
level
as Prot, at least as soon as it "makes sense", so am leaning toward the 1H.
However, I have watched Prot Warriors fighting stuff and I'm not sure if the kill speed is too slow for me. I am tempted to level Arms to 80, in which case I would take the 2H over the 1H weapon.
Now obviously it is up to me whether to level as Arms or Prot, but what would you recommend if I am going Prot in end-game? I think the experience of playing it for a longer period of time would help me be a better tank. Right now I'm leaning toward the 1H but I want to be sure.
Any thoughts?

I'm not too concerned with the fact that shoulder armor is scarce at low levels. It's not important that I have shoulder armor on, and I won't be low level for very long....
The reason the shoulders aren't a clear choice to me is that, as I said in the original post, always having an at-level weapon seems like it would
also
make leveling faster. Again, I don't have the money to constantly supply the character with an AH-bought weapon.

How am I having "problems with those shard weapons"? I am just wondering whether to get a 1H or 2H, and seeking advice from experienced warriors. If I wanted to play my main and farm shards, I wouldn't be asking about an alt. I have the shards for one or the other, not both. Any thoughtful advice would be appreciated.

Do WG dailies and get more shards. Its horribly easy (10 shards per daily). Gosh, i never thought anyone will have problems with those shard weapons.
They are weeklies now. It can be somewhat hard, depending on if your faction holds WG often or not.

I've always liked shoulders, but for anything end-game, those weapons will hardly last you. If you don't want to have to deal with buying weapons, level Prot and take that sword. It's not half bad, but the proc is pretty low in chance. It'd certainly be better than anything else until around 70+ outside of the Emblem of Heroism sword.
The Two-Hander is rather limited, due to the weapon spec being not so hot in the Arms Tree, and dual-wielding two-handers comes late.

OP said he had another alt with shoulders already. Just send those shoulder to your warrior. It doesn't matter what they are or if the stats don't fit a warrior, just use them anyway.
10% bonus on all experience is a lot. Assuming Wowwiki is updated, it says it takes 24,067,200 experience to go from Level 1 to Level 80. Wearing 10% xp shoulders, that would be only 21,879,272, or about 2.2 million experience saved.
Depending on how you look at it, it's either "Almost all of level 79 to level 80's experience for free" or "All the experience from level 1 to level 45 for free." (numbers approximate).

don't overlook the 10% XP bonus, it really makes a difference. once 3.2 hits, you'll be able to get a chestpiece with an additional 10% bonus.
you mention leveling as prot "once it makes sense". i like that you want to level some as prot to get a feel for it (wish more warriors did), but my advice would be not before level 40. from 40 onwards, good 1H weapons are very easy to get in dungeons, so i wouldn't bother with the BOA one.
if you want to speed your way through the early levels, get the 2H'er and go arms.

The trashblade rocks. It will last you all the way to lvl78 or so. Titans Grip (which you can get at 60) aint that big a deal before you can get impale and deep wounds.
So, the trashblade will be great for both fury and prot at low levels. For even more fun, do maraudon (and quests for maurodon) and youll get the real trashblade. Dual-wielding those would be pure delight and those levels between 45-58 before outlands will just flash by in an instant.
With those 2 you could even go arms swordspecc and dual wield trashblades for insane amounts of extra-attacks for some really uber pre-outland fun.
