I rather like Solembum, he seems like the sort of animal you'd want to have follow you around on your travels.
And actually, haven't read the books in ages, if he doesn't release soonish then his fans will get burnt out and forget about the book.

I read Brisingr like two months ago, then started reading Feist instead.

Hey all,
Well its a young adult novel but I stayed up until around three in the morning reading "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins. It's really addictive and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good book right now.
Also, I'm a big Wheel of Time fan and so if anyone is looking for an epic series this is the series for you. There are fourteen books in all (13 have been released and the last book is coming out within the next year) I started the first book of Wheel of Time back in 2007 and it's all been totally worth it!
The first book is called "The Eye of the World," by Robert Jordan.

This has gotten a lot of praise in one fantasy magazine i buy sometimes. Seemed really interesting. But i reckon its not just a single book? Will definitely give it a try, but once more of it is released, so i can read it in a row.

If you want something similar to it, read the Maze Runner series by James Dashner.

Never read, just know because they are in my little sister's book flyers every other month or so lol.
If you want a good series, that they classify as 'Young Adult', I still suggest the Young Wizard series: 9 books currently, with lots of battles against Death/Entropy(well the 'main' villain is the Lone Power, the one who created it), the 'magic' of the Universe is interesting as it's called the Speech where you literally have to describe everything about the spell to cast it, and is just full of good humour.
3 favorite things from the series: from the very first book, the battle in Central Park between Kit, Nita, their friend Fred(the White Hole) all of the Trees and Statues of New York against the Lone Power, his army of deadly cab monsters(as in Taxi cabs imbued with It's darkness). From the second book, the Pale Slayer, the Master Shark....and the name he is given is Ed. And from the eighth book....well, the entire freakin thing; galactic threat, war, gigantic freakin bugs, and a new version of the One being born.

I have the first book, but I got about halfway through a Wizard Abroad and stopped.

Bah, didn't even get to the part with the attack on the town, or the final fight with Balor. Seriously though, may want to pick them back up and try again heh; the 5th book is slower due to the over all story, but it's still good, and the four....jesu christo, especially Wizards at War and Wizard of Mars. I really hope she is working on a tenth book.

Well, English is not my native language. I have just checked, the last part of the trilogy has been released in here a short time ago.
I'll give the trilogy a try after i read all the books i have on my to-do shelf.
Anyway, i am currently reading the
Kraken
from China Miéville, almost finished it a while ago on my way to work, but still have a few pages left... It's a perplexing book. I really like Miéville. His grim style and detailed original fantastic worlds. But in Kraken, the world is, unfortunately, the only really outstanding element. Characters and plot... not so much. The characters are bland, they talk to each other in a very
weird
way... i also do not like how they always keep realising absolutely insane things, like... the main character is reminded of a metaphor that is loosely related to the main plan of the main evil guy, and whoosh, suddenly both the main characters know the plan of the evil guy and they are like "oh god, how could we miss this before?"
That doesn't sound very weird maybe, but if you saw how often this happens in the book (it's actually the most used instrument used by the author to advance the plot in the book, and it happens
often
), and how minor are the "clues" the characters deduce these things from... well, it's just silly. The characters that seem really interesting and that i would love to know more about are given very very little time "on stage"...
But still, its an absolutely awesome world with an interesting plot going in it, with many really good descriptions and original concepts, and i loved reading the book about it.
Next book on my list is... hmm, lemme check the english name of that.
All Tomorrow's Parties
by William Gibson.

God Thror, you have my respect if you finished that book. I tried reading that and only got to about the fiftieth page or so and quit. It's like the author has been locked in a room for twenty years with nobody to talk to.
He's that bad at dialogue and characters.
The book was very, very confusing. I honestly lost track of what was going on the moment the dragon-thing ate his friend. I was sitting there for a moment, thinking... "What the deuce just happened?"

Yes, the dialogues were... well, not good. There was one particular dialogue that i remember when i was like: "Oh my, this is bad." Weird thing is, in his older books, the dialogues are very good, and characters are extremely interesting.
And wow, you gave up early :X The first appearance of Goss and Subby, huh... you didn't even get to Collingswood. The book is extremely heavy in the metaphor department, which kinda suits me, because i love metaphors. I also loved the way magic worked on the principle of metaphors. Simply brilliant. But it was not communicated in the best way possible. In some parts of the book, i was like: "It seems like the author wants to tell me about something, but he can not find the right words to describe his vision." At the end of the book, there were SO many weird realisations and explanations, that it simply made no sense (i already finished it, by my way from work).

I'm thinking of borrowing House of Leaves from the Library. Anyone here read it? I've heard it pulls off psychological horror very well.
