Hello Paladins community,
I'm dusting off my holy paladin, and things have changed since I last played her. I'm confused about the Divine Sacrifice in prot tree. Apparently one of the best raid builds of the moment is centered around it. I don't know how and when to use it. If I take that much damage when using it, I guess I'm supposed to use Divine Shield right before pressing DS or I won't survive, or is there some gimmick that makes that I stay alive? Also, I'm not really sure when to use it. When the whole raid takes damage? (XT's Tantrum) Or when the tank is going to take a huge hit of doom? What's the difference with the old Hand of Sacrifice+Divine Shield combo?
This is the spec I'm using at the moment. Would you recommend I switch to something like
this?
Side question, what stats should I prioritize for HL spam? At the moment I have lots of crit, 36.59% holy crit, thus 42.59% Holy Light crit unbuffed, but I'm running out of mana very, very fast (tried to spam HL while solo, could keep up for 1 min 44 before running oom)
Thanks in advance ;)

It is capped at 150% of your HP as damage transfered so it's possible to survive without using Divine Shield if you're getting healed really fast. Safest bet is always to pop bubble first though. Remember to be out in good time since both require a GCD.

It's situational, if you see alot of people not topped off it might be a good idea to use it during an AoE heavy situation to give the raid healers some breathing room. It's also good to use if the tank is (to put it in your words) about to take a huge hit of doom.
The main difference is that HoSac is single target and that Divine Sacrifice is raid wide.
Both can be increased to 40% damage transfered instead of 30% though Divine Sacrifice has the increase more conveniently available through Divine Guardian which you'll be picking up because of the buff to SS it provides.
While HoSac requires you to skip valuable points in holy to get Blessed Hands

What content are you in? How's your gear level?
I would suggest the earlier build if you're in early content (pre-ulduar) but if you're raiding ulduar i would suggest the latter.
Just for the simple reason that hits are bigger in ulduar, being able to mitigate some of it with a stronger SS and having more throughput with Divinity and imp. devo aura is going to prove very valuable.

If you're able to spam HL consistently for 1'44" you're not doing bad at all. A HL spam doesn't consist of constantly casting HL after HL after HL sometimes you'll be waiting 6-8 seconds between HLs just because RNG loves the tank and he avoids alot of attacks.
Though it's called HL spam cause if RNG doesn't like the tank FoL doesn't have enough HPS to keep him up and will sooner or later lead to the inevitable.
