Plain and simple fact is that some people play dirty, and they wont fight you on fair grounds because they know that perhaps their own personal skill with their class isn't good enough in normal cirucmstances.
Is it fair? No.
Is it honorable? lol no, but its also PVP. If you're expecting some sort of code among PVP, thats a hard thing to expect from everyone.
Bottom line is, dont judge a whole class based on one person. And while you may not have done it completely, calling us wimps isn't exactly the right way to start asking questions around here.

QFT.
I didn't quote the last line because i really don't think the OP was trying to start any problems with the mage community as a whole... If he was he could've ridden a flaming troll all the way here and he did quite well NOT being a jackass, IMHO.
To the OP: like it or not, in pvp, paladins are indeed one of the most overpowered classes in the game (right up there with death knights). That is why retadins keep getting hit with the nerf stick every patch.
What the mage did was a crappy move.. no two ways about it, but as Crusnik said, that's just how some people are and "moaning" (to use your own term) isn't gonna change that.
As it is right now, mages especially have very little to do against paladins. Sure we can kite, but throw on a hand of freedom, and drop the hammer on us...the 6 seconds from BoF is all you need to close the gap to us and just completely obliterate us.. That's why you don't lose to mages 1v1 in a "fair fight". You'd have to suck pretty hard (or the mage would have to be really imba) in order to do so.
Does that justify what that other jerk did? of course not, but I am just trying to shed a little light on the matter.

is this true? are the majority of mages wimps who only fight when the odds are stacked with them.
of course not, thinking about class that way is lol simply because the same people play so many different classes.
I play warrior, rogue, shaman, hunter, and lowbie mage.
Analyze that!
Infact, i asked around, and barely anyone could :S everyone shared my feelings :S
they just gave you standard "yea, sure" reply XD

Honestly broseph, it's world PvP, you got ganked by a bad mage no less, and he knows he's bad, and he ran off. It's as simple as that. You shouldn't get so worked up over this, and now you're going on the mage forums saying all mages refuse to duel honestly in 1v1. If that's what you're looking for stand outside Org and /duel a mage for God's sake.
I can't speak for other mages in world pvp though, but if you see me you might want to call on a couple friends.

ahh.. first of all, my apologies, i did not mean to call amges wimps, i was wondering whether they were or not.
holydins are in now way OP in pvp, we have very little defense to interupts/stuns/silences, and are useless without spells :S im writing this post from a holydins Point of view, not a retadin.
thanks for all the feedback, and yes, i know its wrong to base my opinion on 1 encounter, but that really jsut sparked me off. Mages seem to be the majority of encounters which are grosely unfair, and this feeling/thought is shared throughout my realm :S is it true, are mages the 'dodgiest' class, or just a bit munlucky with the prejudism? :S
i couldn't help but laugh at the "munlucky with the prejudism" bit..
Mages? the "dodgiest" class? you must've never in your life fought a rogue before.. especially in BC.
I can honestly tell you that since i started playing (june of last year) probably 75% of my times getting ganked in world pvp have come from rogues and paladins... before wrath came out it was probably rogues 50% of the time alone... and really, there was
maybe
a 1 in 10 chance that I had full health or wasn't in the midst of fighting other mobs.
in all honesty, when people say they are a paladin (especially referring to pvp) i tend to think retadin.. hell, even prot is pretty damn ridiculous in pvp. Not having faced too many healadins, i'm not sure of how strong they are in pvp (but i do know that locking them out of the holy school of magic is a pain in the arse for ANY paladin.. so i would assume healidins would hate it the most).

I don't PVP much, but I did beat a paladin fair and square once on one of my leveling mage alts (we were both around 30-ish then). And by fair fight, i meant he cast hammer on me while I was fighting a mob, but i still had close to full health and mana, so I guess that's the best I can expect.
The fight did take a while, and we each blew a lot of cooldowns, but in the end, I got him. Bubble's not much of an issue, if you know how to keep your distance, and kite.
Of course, the pally could be a noob, or I got lucky, but it sure didn't feel like it. Besides, I'm not much of a PVP-er either.

Dude, you have so many abilities they deny you one of your best spells (and one of the best overall abilities in the game) in Arenas- Lay on Hands. Yet for everywhere else in WoW, we pretend that massive balancing issue doesn't exist, and for some bizarre reason you get that ability.
Yeah, dude, that's op'd.
Nevertheless, a well-geared Arc mage that's skilled can do a much better job than a Frostie in taking down a pally. I rarely lose duels to pallies (and if I do, I almost always lose in the first 7 seconds).

Hang on... you went into Gurubashi with no auras and no buffs, right after re-speccing? What were you expecting would happen?
OK, the mage should've dueled you, I'll give you that. But to expect honor is a bit much in my opinion. Sure, ideally you could expect it... but realistically, I wouldn't. Certainly not enough to come to a forum and start a post about it.
On a side note, I don't want to get into using terms like "overpowered" because I feel like each class has its strengths and its weaknesses. Mages bring a ton of damage, but if the opponent can weather the storm and outlast our mana, we're pretty much out of options. The paladin is survival incarnate - plate armor (not that it helps against casters, but it's part of the point), Lay on Hands castable on oneself, bubble-healing, even bubble-hearthing. I'll often duel a paladin if it's reasonable (less than 5 levels difference between us), but in world PvP I will run because a corpse-run takes more time than I want to spend (if I can make it to safety, regenerating my mana take less time than recovering my body
and
regenerating my mana). Frost Armor, Frost Nova, and Blink are great tools for escape, and if I can pull off a Polymorph then so much the better... it'll probably mean a paladin with a grudge to settle against mages in general, but I would guess that if he's chasing me that may already be the case.
