or as it happens in my case, sold.

Are you guys really surprised by this? Money buys you better lawyers, more convincing doctors, character witnesses, and sometimes a better perception from judges who spend their days dealing with ghetto kids. I'm not saying it's right, but it's really not surprising either.

Money is largely good, unless you really like buying and selling things with goats/daughtersOkay, let me rephrase that:
"Makes you wish there was a way to make a society
without money
where the power and buying ability of money is limited."

Not really, people will always find ways of getting ahead of each other no matter what kind of society it was. Even if we lived in a different type of world, some people would still have advantages over others. You can't even really blame the wealthy in this situation. If you had a child who did something like this, wouldn't you do everything in your power to get him off the hook?
The failing here lies with the justice system.

"Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."I like how he specifically mentions
male
prostitutes. Females selling their bodies is fine, but for a male? Good heavens!

Serves him right. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.

My dad is telling me that we're headed towards a future where people will be oppressed for being straight.
I literally facepalmed.
I explained that maybe we're headed for a future where you can be shunned for going out and stating that you think homosexuality is wrong, but he doesn't think it'll stop there.

Well by the time that happens, the human race will probably be on its way to extinction since, to put it bluntly, homosexuality goes directly against evolution and if what your dad says occurs, we'll be looking at a world where having a billion humans existing would be a feat.

homosexuality goes directly against evolution
To say that something "goes against evolution" is to completely misunderstand what evolution is. Evolution doesn't care about the individual. It doesn't care about anything. It's a measurement of generational change. It doesn't judge the changes.

Not necessarily. We already have artificial fertilization and other such methods of artificial reproduction. We could just end up in a
Brave New World
instead.

You know that would be true...if it wasn't for the fact that animals can be homosexual as well; kinda of knocks the sails out of that idea.

But the majority of animals aren't homosexual like Skree was describing. And I doubt the majority of a certain animal species are homosexual, and if a species is, they'd probably be endangered.

Well, I'm not an expert but wouldn't that leave only Lesbian couples with children? Since the emybro goes into the womb to be born?

Well, goes against the progression of the human race then.

Well, goes against the progression of the human race then. No, the thing that goes against the progression of the human race is our medical and hygienic standards that let just about anyone survive to reproduce, so long as they can find someone who finds them attractive.
Most people who talk about how X or Y opposes the evolution of the human race don't understand evolution. Survival of the fittest is NOT the standard we should be measuring ourselves to, it is something that we should be trying to surpass and overcome. We're on the brink of a future where everyone has an equal chance at a happy life, no matter how they were born.

Most people who talk about evolution and the human race period, don't understand evolution. We aren't really evolving in he traditional sense anymore. We don't need to physically adapt to new environments, we just build technology that does it for us. We don't seek mates based on the best survival adaptations anymore, and even if we did almost everybody in the developed world lives long enough to reproduce at this point.
I'm not going to even get into using a term of a specific species (human beings) in regards to a process that involves phasing out the species in question into a (relatively) superior one over millions of years.
EDIT: Looking back over my own statement I actually think what I said may have been kind of silly. Taking only 10,000 years of human history, and really only 200 years or so since the Industrial Revolution, in the context of millions of years of evolution doesn't really make sense. It's like hopping out of a cab outside the airport, and in the few minutes before boarding your plane saying "well, I guess this is it. We're done traveling now..." Anything could happen that could render technology useless. Maybe we'll get a mantel plume eruption that wipes out most of the life on this planet (again) and no amount of technology can save us from that. Maybe we'll have advances in biotech that changes out physical makeup over generations. Who knows what may happen. They're already predicting that in hundreds of years different races won't exist anymore and we'll all just be one big mix of what there is now.
