It's explained in the article.
And, you can't put offensive material in the media? You cannot put material which can offend in the media? I mean... do you really think that is the case, or should be the case?

No? Ok, let's try
a new subject
.
Why guy in question is known as anti-gay? Did he draw something offensive? I mean if he just said something, then boycott is silly. But if he actually put something offensive in his past work, then I can see him being boycotted since you cannot really spread offensive material like that in media.
The guy in question is known as anti-gay because he's a well known and respected author and vocal about his beliefs.
However, he's going to have to retract his statement soon, as the LDS Church has released a website stating that they believe those who have homosexual impulses don't have them by choice.

It's primarily stupid, since the current of Superman isn't about gayness anyways. Yes, the newest GL is gay...but since the big cross overs are winding down, not like he'll be appearing in any books that Card is going to be writing on anyways.

That's a minor part of the problem here. You have a group of people threatening to boycott a comic book because one of the writers has expressed an opinion that they feel is wrong, nor in or related to the comic. Their goal is for the man to be fired for his opinion.

And? How is that different from any other boycott?
I'd rather see how this effects his book sales in all honesty; the guy is a respected author after all. Who gives a fig if he get's fired from DC comics.

Maybe I did not put it clear enough. Was there anything in his work that dehumanizes gay people? That is how I define 'offensive' in media, when you dehumanize human beings based on certain features?
I don't think he ever said "they aren't human beings". I don't understand why that matters? Not the fact of whether people are people, but why this single person's opinion on the subject matters.

And? How is that different from any other boycott? It's different than other boycotts because it is a boycott not over a problem with quality, service, or product provided, but over an opinion that someone has that works there, that is completely unrelated to his work. I have a pretty big problem with people so bigoted, so intolerant of other's opinions, that they cannot allow anyone with a dissenting, or incorrect opinion, to be allowed to work, or to be anything but ostracized from society.
If there were a homosexual person working at my favorite restaurant, I, a preacher of fundamental Biblical Christianity, of the 1 Timothy 1:10 variety, wouldn't insist that the person be fired. If someone were a Muslim, and felt that I was an inferior human being, not worthy of dirt, was my dentist, and did a damn fine job, I'd keep going to him. I don't want to SILENCE opinions I disagree with. THAT IS BIGOTRY. The answer to bigotry is not more bigotry. Demanding a person who disagrees with you be fired will do nothing to further your cause.

....So...did anyone actual read the article? Yes Card is anti-gay, but would that actually show up in the book? More then likely not, since they have their Token superhero who is gay and that is the Green Lantern. This is just more stupidity blowing up what shouldn't even be a blip on the radar of any news system into an overblown problem.
Again, oh noes, DC fires Card...guess he'll go home and cry into the pile of money he's already made from his book series /roll eyes

I'm not concerned about his welfare after being fired so much as the precedent it might set if he
were
to be fired.

Thing is, it's DC; they have a revolving door of Writers and Artists, and like most comic industry groups, they prefer it when people stir up *!@#: Sells comics. If anything they'd keep him around because it would keep interest in the books...now if his plots suck, then he'll get das boot.

Look past the practicality of this particular incident at a comic outlet. This is bigger than that. A group of people are fighting bigotry with bigotry. That's the story here. Not the stupid comic.

Yes...like that hasn't happened before. And really, the story is 'bigoted writer spoke out about something, and now it's being held against him'; again, if people want to boycott any of Card's writing, they have every right too; same as people who boycott Mel Gibson movies, who boycott a fundie tv show, a restaurant who spoke out against Gay marriage...etc etc etc.
It's not something new, and it sure doesn't deserve top billing, even on a site like Fox News.

I expect the same response in like form for the opposite side of the argument then.
Then this is not for News Article thread because it is old as time.
The thing is a news article.

In regards to this: There is next to zero chance of Card being fired for something like this, so it's not gonna set a precedent. As I said earlier, I'd rather see how the effect of what he has said has changed the profit he makes from his books; on both side of the coin, those who pick them up because he's a 'right upstanding man' and those who stop buying them because he's 'a bigoted bastard'.

No one was arguing against their right to boycott.
