who they sleep with/want to live their life with isn't importantBut it is. If it weren't, they wouldn't be protesting.
They are protesting because people want to make them some kind of second class citizen, without the same rights that others have. Tell me, how is that a bad thing?

If they were doing that, then I wouldn't see anything wrong with it. You're taking my argument out of context. Let me outline the two things I have taken issue with:
1) WHERE the protest are to take place, which is, on private property.
2) (this is the lesser issue) I find it ineffective to say "get used to" something, and expect someone to do it.
Everything else I see is fine. Let them protest. Let them kiss in public. Let them picket. Let them shop elsewhere. Let them vote against the unjust laws. Let them marry who they want. All of that is cool.

And yet, it wouldn't be a protest if they didn't go to the location in question now would it?
2) (this is the lesser issue) I find it ineffective to say "get used to" something, and expect someone to do it./shrug That's the rallying cry they've been using for about 20 years now; doubt they are going to start changing it at this junction.

And yet, it wouldn't be a protest if they didn't go to the location in question now would it?I'm not saying they can't go TO the location, just not inside the building. I said earlier that I see nothing wrong with standing outside on the public right of way./shrug That's the rallying cry they've been using for about 20 years now; doubt they are going to start changing it at this junction.
Yeah. You're right. But, my point stands, and that doesn't make it effective. If anything, maybe it's time for a change of strategy, as there hasn't been a single popular vote in favor of gay marriage, in the entire US, in history (last time I checked a few months ago).

Don't just dump a wiki article on me. Show me a popular vote, directly from the people, that affirmed homosexual marriage rights.

And to me, what the gay community is doing is the right thing: Make the rest of the straights see them as 'normal' and realize that who they sleep with/want to live their life with isn't important and they should get the sticks out of their rumps and start worrying about important things rather then what is going on behind closed doors.
Than keep it behind closed doors, not in a public restaurant, where a PDA even between a hetero couple would be an inappropriate activity, especially if they have no intention of being a paying customer.
And this type of protest will do
nothing
to help their cause with anyone. Its not going to make anyone see them as "normal"....if anything, it only reinforces some stereotypes that gays are all flaming queers running around in assless chaps.
Worse yet, considering the huge turnout by the "for" crowd, if the "against" crowd doesn't match it (and I would be willing to bet that you will not see 1-2 hour long lines of gays waiting for their kiss), than it is only going indicate less support for the gay community.
My issue is not with the desire to protest, but the method they a choosing to use. I think it is a bad idea, and can only end badly. i guess we shall see.

I agree with Magician and MyTie, possibly for the first time. When used against the Phelps family in public places, kissing is just used to rankle them. When used in Chick-Fil-A restaurants, it doesn't convey the same message. Gotta admire their bravery though.
Though I think sit-ins in private establishments can be effective.
Everyone remembers
this famous image
for instance.

This law would require protesters to stay at least 300 feet away from a soldier's funeral for two hours before, during, and two hours after. I'm wondering what people think about the legality of this.

I'm cautiously supportive. I'm aware that this is government infringing slightly on a person's right to protest, with the intent to greatly infringe on a person's right to be a @#$%. I don't want to infringe on the right to protest, but at the same time, a funeral is no place to be a #$%^.

If it keeps those Westboro psychos away, I'm all for it.

They fired him for presenting an image, in a public video, that could have had a negative impact on their business. If you want to be a asshat, be an asshat. But if you make a video of it, and put if on YouTube, be prepared for the consequences of it.
With roughly 50% of Americans having the same or similar views as Chick-Fil-A, and even more that may disagree with their stance, but agree they have the right to have that stance, posting a video like this could very easily have a negative impact on the company that this man worked for. And if his actions could potentially cost the company money, than the company had every right to can his hate filled butt.

I still can't believe that the only real legislative power the UN general assembly has over the security council is to try and

I get where he was coming from, but it was wrong, and unproductive, to have a go at the employee. Unless he's been criminally charged though, I don't think his company should be able to get away with firing him for mouthing off.
CEO of a company makes a positive statement about traditional marriage, and government should be able to stop him from opening up a franchise there. CFO goes off on a rant at a person, and he shouldn't be punished at all.
Homosexuals should be able to "express" themselves publically however they want. A person who holds the tenants of the bible "expresses" himself, and... bigot.
Homosexuals are "born like that". God didn't create me at birth. That's imaginary, like Harry Potter.
I'm swimming in double standards.

Team America mocks this. When Kim Jong Il fails to comply with the nuclear inspectors, he asks what the UN will do, and they tell him they will get really angry and write him a letter.

You know, if you are gay and work at a Chik-Fil-A, especially in one of the states that recognizes gay marriage, it must really suck to be there now. After all, finding out that your CEO thinks that way would really put a damper on bringing the significant other to any type of company family event.

I wouldn't be surprised if they offer free sexual reorientation therapy for such employees, despite the fact its complete bunk.
