Class quests required to progress every 10 levels. If you can't complete it, then you can't level any further. Must be performed in a single person instance so that you can't be boosted through, and you do it without gear so you can't twink out to make it irrelevant.
Thus, if you can't figure out your class, you don't deserve to be lvl 80.
They wouldn't have to be uber hard, but at least require some semblance of knowledge of your class and key abilities.
I love the idea of class quests, but I think where the difficulty comes in is hybrids. Granted, at lower levels it doesn't make a difference, but if the point is to show that the person competently understands their roles, hybrid classes would need anywhere from two to four separate quests in order to do so. Druids would need:
A quest wherein the bear tank has to keep aggro off an NPC mage that is going "all-out" with their DPS on an AoE group.
A quest wherein a feral cat has to down a particular number of enemies within a certain time frame while stealthing past other guard units to reach the mobs he must kill.
A quest wherein a tree must keep an NPC tank alive under a vicious assault, as well as possibly shifting forms quickly to avoid rapid-cast AoE damage.
A quest wherein a boomchicken must, um... boom without ooming?
Granted, that's the worst-case scenario - and now that I define them, it probably wouldn't be that difficult.
Never mind. :P Class quests GO!

This entire thread is rhetoric so it really doesn't matter.

I didn't see this in this topic, and I hope I word it correctly as I am really tired (just got back from a concert, neck is sore from headbanging and whatnot), but here I go.
I'd like a Mentor / Student type system.
The way this would function would be something like:
Player A is level 20, Player B is 80.
Player A can invite Player B to be their Mentor.
Player B accepts, and is brought down to level 20.
When lowered to 20, Player B suffers a debuff called "Mentor Duty" that lowers their stats by a percent equal to the levels they lost, i.e. 80 to 20 would be a 1/4 drop in stats roughly, so they'd be powerful but not godlike, would not gain any kind of experience (even if they're not 80), and the experience they would gain would be turned into gold/silver/copper.
It would also have to block the use of high level spells, or high level ranks of spells to keep things in order.
The "Student" would work the same, only in reverse.
Player B invites Player A to be his "Student."
Player A accepts, and gets "leveled" up to 80, and gets a buff called "Student", or something similar.
Player A would get a stat increase equal to levels gained roughly. 20 to 80 would be 4 times their base stats, but they'd still have their level 20 spells and wouldn't be able to gain experience unless they were in a appropriate level instance, and they would gain experience as if they were that level. That is to say a level 15 in a 75 instance with level 75 players wouldn't gain 30 levels from one run, they would score maybe half a level as they'd be "Student" buffed to a level 75 player.
There would have to be a limit on this to prevent "Student" players from entering raids, of course, but I feel it would accomplish a few things.
1. It would make it easier for friends and family to play together, even if one person levels a bit faster than another, they won't have to just move on to another zone, just wait, or do low level quests.
2. It might help towards the elimination of run-throughs, as people could play everything on the level, and 80s could help but they could also just play it at the proper level, thus causing players to learn their class & group skills.
3. It'd make the old instances fun again, instead of a "pull-the-entire-instance-then-use-one-aoe" marathon.
I'm sure there's more to it than I put here, some tweaks, some plain sight stuff I've missed, but you guys get the gist. I think it'd be a nice addition to the game.

I like this, as well.
I've thought for some time now that Blacksmiths should also be able to repair plate/mail gear,
tailors cloth, and Leather Workers able to repair leather/mail gear. Only their own, of course.
Tailors could be able to make patches for cloth clothes, Leather Workers and Blacksmiths could do the same with patches and plating, and Alchemists could make dyes. Yea, it'd be a nifty system to add.
Also, and I put this on the suggestion forums a while back, they should add a way to rearrange your characters on your character select screen.
I don't like having 80, 80, 76, 80, 60, 80, etc. (At least back on Smolderthorn... 8 months without a job, jeez), I'm a little OCD I guess, but I'd like to rearrange it to, say, 80, 80, 80, 76, 60, etc.
Or make it very, very, very clear that +Hit gear is meant as a main-spec upgrade for your dps, not your healers. Much as I might get a kick out of getting a really badass dps weapon, I really don't need hit when I'm healing on my Shammy, and the dps loses out on an increase that would better prepare them for more raiding.

After thinking for a bit, I can't come up with much to change. WoW has already covered most all of player wants and needs. Although WoW has about every aspect of play covered that the other mmorpg games use, it does not have player housing. Might as well cover every aspect used in other games.
WoW vs Other games
PVE- check
PVP- check
Questing- check
Leveling- check
Player grouping- check
Player economy- check
Crafting/fishing- check
Player housing- no
I think my #1 request would be considered fluff by most as it is mostly pointless, but would add a bit of personalized feel to the game.
--Player built housing.
Benifits, reasons, and features could possibly included...
1. House size variations from shack, cottage, farmhouse, mansion; Single room to multi-room dwellings.
2. Personal or guild housing or both.
3. Ability to decorate your house as you see fit.
4. Would open crafts for additional recipes for tools, furnishings, etc.
5. Could open new crafts, carpentry, lumberjacking, etc.
6. Buildable villages in a co-op style with options to add NPC shops.
7. Could be used as another PVP option of PVP servers for guild vs. guild village raids.--Could be attackable structures.
8. Another money sink for game side benefit. Gold for permit to build, or lot rent.
9. Could be player transferable. Buy the dwelling key from another player and take over ownership.
10. Could be added to achievements system.
11. Trophies could be added to monster drop tables and quest rewards.
12. Housing could be instanced to housing areas, or open world built depending on if PVP attacking was allowed.
13. Could open for a gardening or farming craft on your land plot, or in your house.
14. Could be used as addition time sink. If players log out in their house 125% rest exp bonus. Could make more travel time, but at the benefit of increased rested exp.
There is so much that could be added off a player housing feature with some creative thinking. It would only add more to the game in terms of things to do.
Before you say, go play Vangaurd or one of the other games... I have. They are all fun games. My point is WoW has everything else that other games have, except player housing, so why not use that as my suggestion as "1 thing to change about WoW". And I know it has been suggested, discussed and discarded in the past, that still dont change the fact its the only thing WoW doesnt have that other games do.
And if this isn't an acceptable suggestion, then I offer... Change stun locking in PVP.
If you want houses, go play the sims please.

Levels 1-20, free to play with limits that require you to stay within the first three zones (1-6, 5-10, 10-20). The /Trade and /General for these areas are limited to only players within these zones (paid or free).
Levels 20-60, $30 a month. Similar restrictions as for the free players. Limits that require you to stay in zones listed as 1-60. Both /Trade and /General limited to players within those zones.
Levels 60-80, $50 a month. Unlimited restrictions on travel, but the same limits on /Trade and /General as for the other two sets of players.
This is a horrible Idea, there are a good amount of people who still complain about $15.oo a month let alone $50.oo..
One thing I've discovered in the half century I've been around, you value something more when you pay more for it. Currently we have a very low price game that anyone can afford. Go mow your neighbors lawn and you can pay for a month of WoW. But you need to save and save, before you can buy that super-charged sports car. For the nearly free game, you get idiots who trash talk and make the game hell for everyone. But when it comes to that car that you had to earn, you're out there on Saturday washing it and being proud of what you achieved.
In my approach, the level 1-20 areas would be the ghettos where the trash talking kidlets would terrorize each other. Those who wish to get out of the ghetto would find a way to finance the step upwards. And those who wish to live (play) in the elite zones - they'll work for the ticket out of the suburbs.
As I said, I expect flames since I'm not proposing free rides for people. My ideas do away with power leveling, instance runs with 80s, and having to actually earn your way. But hey, I'm a grumpy ol' man and don't care if someone flames me. I did the asbestos quest chain back in my 30s and have a full set of purple asbestos armor now!
As someone who pays for WoW, I would honestly have to quit if they bumped the price up to $50. Not out of frustration at the cost, but simple because I couldn't afford to pay that much. That idea is insane. You realize the little kiddies are just funded by their parents who are willing to pay almost anything?

I hadn't really chimed in on this because it's honestly rather outlandish. The idea is very flawed; the idea may cut out a decent number of idiots - but it would also likely cut out an equal population of good players.
Not to mention, $15 a month from 11 million ($165,000,000) is a far greater revenue than $50 a month from the 1 million or so ($50,000,000) who could afford the cost; you'll see far fewer people who are willing to pay for the lesser tiers of content, instead choosing to abandon the game completely. All that means less revenue to develop new content - and I would bet you decent money that you would not see the decrease in idiocy that you assume.
All this to accomplish something that you can already do in-game: Turn off general and trade, don't ever pug, and make lavish use of your ignore list.
So, let's see: Deal with the idiots, or kill the game . . . I'll choose deal with the idiots.
However,
there's
something I would love to see implemented: Remove the limitation on the ignore list.

Just one change:
Fire Tom Chilton! This will result in the deletion of Arena and all PvP. WoW will go back to its core of PvE. The game should have never diverted from this in the first place. With the ever growing PvP popularity, whether Arena or world PvP, the class balancing around that screws up PvE way too much. Blizzard needs to get a handle on this once and for all.
