I would think the Voodoo Tree would be a lot like the Affliction warlock tree, with all the Curses and what not. It seems like it would be another DoT-style class.
But with the said, I would play the hell out of a healing/DoT class.

Something like the healing drake in occ. Convert your own health into heals for your group while sapping the life of your enemy with curses

From a lore PoV, Witch Doctors are basically Troll Priests/Shamans. And many of their spells from WCIII are already present in the shaman class. Besides, it wouldn't make sense for non-troll characters to become Witch Doctors.
And to prevent more threads about hero classes that obviously aren't an option, I'm listing WCIII hero classes and why the may (not) be viable:
Paladin -> Already in-game.
Mountain King -> Already covered by Warriors
Archmage -> Already covered by Mages
Blood Mage -> Already covered by Mages
Blademaster -> Already covered by Warriors
Farseer -> Already covered by Shamans
Tauren Chieftain -> Already covered by Warriors/Shamans (besides, they could only be Tauren lol)
Shadow Hunter -> Already covered by Shamans/Shadow priests
Death Knight -> Already in-game
Dread lord -> Nathrezim only, Already covered by Shadow Priests
Lich -> Already covered by Warlocks/Frost Mages/DKs
Crypt Lord -> Nerubian only
Priestess of the Moon -> Already covered by Priest
Demon Hunter -> Already covered by Warlocks/Rogues
Keeper of the Grove -> Already covered by Druids
Warden -> This
might
be possible, though it shares one or two skills with rogues and mages. lolblink/lolfanofknives
Beast Master -> Already covered by Hunters
Dark Ranger (or Ranger) -> Already covered by Hunters
Sea Witch -> Naga only, Already covered by Frost Mages/Hunters
Pit Lord -> Demon only. Not Humanoid. Already covered by Warlocks
Pandaren Brewmaster -> Pandaren only. It ain't gonna happen. Ever. So stop dreaming. (Pandaren were just a WCIII in-game joke of Samwise Diddier. They're not supposed to appear in WoW or be taken seriously, besides a vague reference to Chen Stormstout in the Barrens).
Alchemist -> Already covered by the Alchemy profession.
Tinker -> Already covered by the Enginering profession.
Firelord -> Elemental only. No, we're not getting playable Ragnaros any time soon. Besides, it's already covered by fire mages (kinda).
That's it.
The only one I've seen possible besides DK is Warden. It's most probable that they'll just make up a new class not based on WCIII.

sidhe, rogues are wardens... thats the class rogues are modeled after, we have posions, fan of knives.. and in beta WoW WE were the ones with blink
Rogues are modeled off the Scout Archetype with the assassin from mmos. Though blizzard does base a lot of their RPG off of their own game, they still draw most of their classes from an already available pool of existing Archetypes.
Clerics, Scouts, Warriors, Wizards, and more I'm probably forgetting. :S
Though the DK(Death Knights are from the archetypes as well. -_-) set a precedent where hero classes are drawn from WCIII units, its entirely possible for blizzard to draw classes from other sources, mostly because the classes present in the game are just sub-categories of RPG archetypes.

Add a 4th tree to each class. What you described might be like a healing spec for Warlocks called Sacrifice.

If you want to play a witch doctor, you'll have to wait for WCIII
