In 3.2, UB can be used every rotation for 20 seconds and DRW (1.5 min cooldown) can be used every few rotations for at least 12 seconds (maybe a little more with glyph). Now this may make DRW better for dps as burst damage, but I'm looking for something more constant that I can throw into my rotation. This makes UB a little bit more appealing, especially to someone just starting out on DK's. This is why I agreed with FireQ as this is more of a cookie cutter build more than an elitest build. I think I would have more fun watching hugh DC crits than DRW doing extra damage.
UB doesn't make your DCs hit any harder; it just provides an extra DoT that's applied with each DC. DRW will do more damage over time as well as provide more burst, so there's zero reason to spec into UB over DRW. Now that DRW costs a flat 60 RP, it's extremely beginner friendly as well, so you're left with nothing to support UB under any circumstance.

jw does the dot stack? cuz itd be dumb when u RP dump and theres only 1 dot...
so yeah...
imo still take DRW over UB simply cuz DRW is really useful in some raid situations... esp during brain phase of yogg, BL, and other stuff which u have to burn thru quick.... less fights in uld is sustained... plus hysteria+DRW would prolly still out weigh UB in shorter fights easily...

spec is pretty much same as in 3.1
plus if DC would be more of ur total dps, arpen would be worth less... QQ <---33.78% arpen from gear.. lol
the dots might miss considering spell hit cap? or am i dumb D:

Ah your right, but 30% DoT is still ok nonetheless considering you can still punch it every rotation.
You where right about it not making DC hit harder but it doesn't mean there isn't a reason to spec that way. Being able to use it every rotaion makes it worth while. You spend 60 Rp for a 12 sec (17 if you waste a spot for the glyph) ability that you can only use one very 1.5 mins. That doesn't seem very beginner friendly to me. Whats easier? Rotating in UB or using DRW everytime its ready if you can afford to use it!
If you're somehow so RP starved or so unaware of your resources that you can't have 60 RP ready when DRW is up, you have bigger problems than finding a beginner friendly spec. Regardless, the math has been done already and DRW will be better, even in long hauls where DoTs have the advantage damage-wise. As for the glyph spot; exactly what else would you put there if you're specced for DRW? There aren't any other viable choices.

The DoTs do stack. DRW still manages to do more damage (this is assuming you glyph appropriately for BOTH abilities).
And as you mentioned, Ulduar does cater to burst abilities a lot more than sustained ones.
