Trolling or Trauling?

Alright. I saw the thread "Questions You Might Be Afraid To Ask" and in that thread some on asked what a forum troll was. Now, I know the answer to that but it was the response that user received which prompted my question. The answer claimed the term was related to the act of trolling in fishing. Where one drops a line and hopes something bites, much like a forum troll does with their nonsense.
Obviously a forum troll is said in the same way as our friends from the Echo Isles, but what about the act of trolling a forum? All my life I've heard the fishing term said "trauling," not trolling.
So, I'm wondering... is "trauling" just a product of me being raised in the South or did online interaction just change the way it's said?

"Trawling" involves the use of large nets. Commercial fishing boats trawl for shrimp and the like with nets suspended from booms that stick off the sides of the boats and are winched in when full.
"Trolling" uses individual lines with baited hooks, usually reeled in by hand for sport. You typically troll for Marlin and Sailfish, as an example.

Thanks, man. I guess I just didn't know enough fishing terms.
