I am a Ret paladin with quite good PvE gear some T8, T7.5 and Ironsoul. I am hit capped and have a ton of AP and around 35% crit all self buffed.
But in some raids like VoA on the single target mobs and such I usualy get quite low dps compared to the rest of the group, I noticed that in my current gear setup I have neglected haste. Do you think this occasional low dps on some, usualy single target, mobs could be affected by my lack of haste?
atm my current speed is 3.30 with 152haste (6.03% haste) I could increase my haste by moving some stuff around but it would most likely require me to sacrifise some STR. Is haste very imporant along with hit cap?
Would the improvment in haste also increase my dps across the board. (my dps is quite good 5.5k on sarth 3d zerk tact)
Thanks ret pallys!

Haste won't give you as much bang for your buck as, say, strength. If you're doing worse on single target fights it could be that you're not using a efficient enough rotation.

how important is the Expertise cap for rets? I've never really taken that stat into consideration

Expertise cap is fairly important for rets due to the simple fact that we cant afford to have our hits parried. Getting parried on say a crusader strike can gimp our dps by a significant amount. While you dont necissarily need to have your expertise capped, it is good to be in the 20s.
And referring to the topic post, haste is a valuable stat since Martyr adds holy damage to all of our melee hits. The faster we hit, the more martyr is being used. However DO NOT put haste in front of strength. Strength is our best stat and having a high AP is very important. Also since Martyr/blood will be removed in 3.2 you dont need the haste unless it comes with a piece of gear.

Why would we be parried if we're attacking from behind where we should be? Sometimes it's unavoidable, but all melee DPS should still be attacking from behind.

If your not exp capped bosses can dodge from behind. Most people aim for around 20 exp but if you can get to 26 it is worth it.
(The parry cap is much higher then 26)
