Should people be able to vote away civil rights for minorities?

I'd like to show how much you ignored my first arguement, and even changed it around to make me sound like a real jerk.
What I said:
Just because someone belongs to a minority group, doesn't mean they should be extended some sort of 'civil rights' pass. Not everyone is equal. Everyone is born equal though. It is what you do after you are born that degrades or exemplifies your charachter.
What you quoted:
Not everyone is equal.
Allow me to restate my arguement in simpler terms:
Barak Obama and Ted Bundy when they were born were both equal. Over the course of his life, Ted Bundy lowered himself so that he didn't deserve the same rights as the rest of society (ie freedom to walk down the street). Over the course of Barak Obama's life, he has really done a good job of increasing his standing by displaying excellent charachter.
The two were born equal, but they made themseleves unequal.
Edit: And just because Ted Bundy belonged to the minority group of 'serial killers' he didn't deserve the civil right to... say... march in a protest. Being in a minority group shouldn't get you anything special.

So by being born gay, a person makes themself unequal to the point they can't get married to another person of their gender?
Um...
Being in a minority group shouldn't get you anything special.
The ability to get married to someone you want to is special now?

Wow, it is hardly believable that nobody has mentioned sources like
this
,
this
, and
this
.
Homosexuality and bisexuality are normal parts of nature in many species. It keeps the population growth down, it can be viewed as a limiting factor. Macaques and baboons have been noted frequently to have same-sex coupling and to engage in sexual behavior with the same gender. Being homosexual is not something that you decide, but an adaptation evolved to further prosper a species.
With less individuals mating to reproduce, there are less resources being consumed for offspring, as well as a lower strain on the environment in which the population of the species live. The point at which a population reaches genetic equilibrium or the maximum population the environment can sustain will likely be the point when homosexuality becomes more prominent.
This was a good read. I knew that l lions had homosexual tendencies, but I didn't know that it was so widespread across the animal kingdom.
It's only natural

I believe gays should be allowed to get married.
Sometimes I wonder if you have been paying attention.

It depends. It has never been decided on what truly makes you gay. Some people believe that you're born with it and some people think it's a choice. Some people think it's both, which is probably most correct.
I don't see the difference? They'd still prefer people of the same gender as theirs. And they should still be able to get married.
Sometimes I wonder if you have been paying attention.
I have been, but's it's a bit hard to gauge what you mean when:
(A) You seem to contradict yourself (see what I quoted).
(B) You are often sarcastic.

Let me spell it out without any sarcasm:
1) I don't care if gays are born that way or not.
2) I don't care if being gay is morally wrong.
3) I don't care if gays should or shouldn't be allowed to get married.
important stuff now:
4) Getting married is an innate right, not coming from government.
5) By arguing for the right to get married to be written into law, gays are acknowledging the government's power over thier lives.
6) Gays already have the right to get married.
7) There should be no legal benefits to getting married.

He is saying that we are born equal and the decisions we make are what make us inferior or superior.
As far as I can tell, he means decisions we make that affect other people.
I really don't see why anyone would care if a man(or woman) all of a sudden decided he liked men(or women), or was born that way.

As stated above, I don't.
This issue isn't about homosexuals, it is about marriage, and not allowing government to control that aspect of our lives needlessly.
Edit: I don't even think that heterosexuals should be allowed to legally get married. There should be no such thing as a legal marriage... or an illegal one.

Meh, whether you acknowledge it, agree with it or not, you cannot deny that it exists.
7) There should be no legal benefits to getting married.
And the benifits that people get from getting married? Are they given to everyone or no-one?
I'd just like to add that if everyone put forward arguements like that, the world would be quite a lot better.

Insurance benefits? Tax benefits? These things shouldn't be legal either. Insurance policies should come from insurance agencies, not court proceedings. Tax benefits to getting married should go to everyone or no one, agreed.

Uh, how? A people's revolt? Because as much as I feel the USA needs a change in the way it's run, I can't see it happening any time soon.
Tax benefits to getting married should go to everyone or no one, agreed.
Aye.

Incredibly, you are the first person to actually GET my view. Everyone else gets stuck on the 'gay' thing.
To answer your question about revolting... you're really at the same step in thought that I am. I really don't have any idea how to fix it. I'm hopeing for a small internal collapse of the party system, or a really rough economic downturn, so that people start dieing. One of those two should wake people up.
Edit: Really, it will never happen because society is full of idiots. For instance, this thread is full of people who are willing to crucify thier innate rights to allow government the power to grant them thier rights. If people would take a step back and look at the big picture...

Do you vote?
Not for everything.
Also, the idea that to 'vote' is to do your part is ludacris. I would rather that people who were no informed didn't vote than people vote just to 'be american', or to get side X to win. Southpark did an episode about this. It was called '!@#$%^ and Turd".
