double post for an update:
i've done a first pass at updating to 3.3 changes now the official patch notes are out. i'll need to update again once wowhead's ptr stuff gets integrated into the main site but the big stuff should be done.
i'd welcome input from anyone. the FAQ has got pretty big now so it's getting more difficult for me to catch all these things. i need particular help on PvP stuff, does 3.3 bring any major changes to pvp? i'm also still short on some pvp profession info if anyone can help there.
thanks

rank 1 life tap no longer exists
there is a tick box at the top of your spell book which allows you to choose whether the spell book displays all spell ranks or not. apparently you have chosen for it not to show all ranks but they still exist (for now at least, rumours are that ranks may be abolished with cataclysm).
blizzard have all but killed "downranking" as a concept when used for DPS or healing by making spells cost a percentage of base mana. however, lower ranks of life tap have all the benefits of a max rank tap, in terms of the life tap buff and some procs(eg. eye of the broodmother), without the high health cost.
all warlock specs currently should use the glyph of life tap and as long as they do they should all cast a rank one life tap as combat begins to trigger the buff.
on a side note, well done for reading the stickies when it has been suggested that you do so. however, while not everything in the stickies is infallibly true and questioning is good, i generally know what i'm talking about and draw info outside my direct experience from other very trusted sources. if you have a question then please do ask it but don't make flat statements like that unless you're on solid ground.

well that list is the priority for your spells. if you're using it as a rotation then i wouldn't be surprised if you got low numbers.
you've made several posts on the forum and have not been particularly helpful in terms of giving anyone here enough information to give you reasonable help/advice. read these two sections:
Q: I think the DPS I'm getting is not as good as my gear should allow. What am I doing wrong?
A:
general tips:
Don't clip your DoTs
- Get a good DoT timer addon and find a layout that you're comfortable with. This should help you see exactly when your DoTs are coming to an end and help you maintain a better uptime without clipping the end of the timers.
Use your trinkets
- The DPS that is attributed to certain trinkets on boards like this or 'elitist jerks' is based on the idea that the trinket's 'on use' effect will be used as often as possible. Trinkets can be powerful if saved for 'burn phases' (generally when the raid uses heroism) but if you're not used to saving them for these moments then it's much better to macro them into an ability and have them trigger whenever they're available.
Enchant all your gear
- your gear may be good but enchants and gems are hugely important. The rep enchants for head and shoulder slots of the most often ones to be missed.
Don't match socket colours without good reason
- When gemming your gear don't try too hard to match socket colours - Unless it's for a metagem requirement, in almost all cases a straight +23 spellpower gem is the best option.
Cap your Hit Rating
- Check the section on stats to find out
your
hit cap and get that cap. Don't go over. Don't be too far under.
Max your professions
- All professions give some benefits at high levels.
Use a proper spec
- The talent builds in this (and the other) stickies are carefully planned to provide the best ouput for your points.
Spam that button!
- when rotations say things like "spam shadow bolt" they mean it. Get a castbar addon like
quartz
which shows latency as a red section on your cast bar. As soon as this portion is reached you should spam the button to try to reduce the effect that lag has on your DPS.
Q: I've read this whole thread and my question hasn't been answered. What do I do next?
A:
Of course the stickies don't contain the answer to every possible question and query. If you've read through this thread and the stickies then it's time to ask the forum for more help. There are an awful lot of very experienced and intelligent players on this board that will happily help you with your problem.
to help us help you here are some tips for posting your question:
Be specific
- Vague questions will never get concise answers
Give as much supporting information as possible
- If you're asking about a build, then link it. If you're asking about your gear, link your armoury.
Use the best English you can
- Of course, English isn't the first language of everyone on the board but to be able to help you we need to understand you. 'Leet' and IM language will generally get a bad reaction.
Keep it short
- Walls of text will only receive the response "TL;DR". If you want to post a longer explanation always give a brief list of points first so that people can help you without reading your life story.
Do NOT make "rate my build" threads
- if you didn't see your build in the stickies it's not because nobody thought of it. It's because, for one reason or another, it's a poor build.
If you think that your build is great and can't see why no one uses it then post on the
talent builds
sticky and state why you made the choices you made. List all your choices that differ from the closest "cookie cutter" build to yours.

i'm not sure if the regular PvP posters here will follow this thread. it might be worth trying to find a PvP based thread to pose your question where it's more likely to be seen. sorry i can't help you with it. i could have a guess but i don't like answering things if i'm not really sure of the info i'm giving.
we have a couple of good PvP stickies, is there nothing in either of those about the glyph?
Post by
david01
yeah, you are right.
and still missing some parts about pvp info in the post..
its not a bad critic, its a sugestion.. maybe try to work on it...
or it depends on the pvpers?
like, can I start sugest ideas to discuss in this post? or I should look for a pvp forum..?...
sorry for my english ( its not my first language)
and thanks for the attention

sounds like you have a few questions so maybe make a thread.
it would be good if you mention in that thread things that you feel are missing from this FAQ and then if you get some solid answers i can add them to this thread

As we mentioned in the Conflag thread earlier today, the game changes very often. And since 3.3 came out, Demonology has gotten a bit of a changed "priority order" in its spells, with the new Molten Core.
I know this is covered in your guide, but I think it would be slightly better for you to add a little "(updated in 3.3)" just before explaining how to shoot your spells as a demo lock, or something like that. Just to clarify.
I love the thing you are doing with the notes, but I think that "some" people might miss the point if you don't have all your horses at home, if you know what I'm saying. ^^
