Summons 80 level skeleton, which has about 5k hp and melees for about 140-160. At the moment on-use effect is pretty much useless, even in PvP and most likely was added only to remind about Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire.

I've seen the Skeleton summoned from Antique Cornerstone Grimoire From Onyxia 10man, but not the one from 25man. i can say for a fact, the 10man version is surprisngly weak for being a level 80 and having a 15min cooldown. Can anyone tell me if the 25man version of the skeleton is any stronger? or are they the same?

i just tested the skeleton on the heroic training dummy. it hits for 110-140 and does about 74 dps. uptime 1 minute out of 15 means it gives you a very meh 5 additional dps.

Most boss fights will not last 15 minutes; consider the use effect closer to 10 DPS for the common 8 minute boss fight, or 25 DPS for most speed-kill fights. Also since this is off the global cooldown it will not interfere with your rotation and can be used specifically during a burn phase.

While this may seem small, the 25 additional DPS puts this in the top 5 for Shadow Priest offhands, as compared to ignoring the use effect where it would be around 10th place.

Additionally, since offhands follow the "you may switch weapons in combat" rule, you can enter a fight with this equipped and run the following macro to benefit from the use effect and a better offhand:/use Antediluvian Cornerstone Grimoire

Yes, but why would you break rotation to pull out this book and toss out a whimpy skeleton? It would hurt your DPS more than it would help.
In addition, there aren't many better off-hand items at the moment. The two off-hands from 25 man ToCr are arguably just as good (depending on your class, spec and other ratings) and the heroic versions of them, while better, are much harder to obtain. This is, without a doubt, one of the best of the best.

This would be great for a Death Knight (Unholy Spec) to have this item aswell as Book of the Dead, Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire, and Antique Cornerstone Grimoire. Then simply create a macros to used the item then switch it out for the other summoning books, summoning each skeleton (each lasting 60 sec) before casting Army of the Dead (each ghoul lasting 40 sec).

In addition to your raised ally (granted you were able too have one die), ghoul minion, and gargoyle that would be a great undead army to see for a total of 17 NPCs under your "command": 1 raised ally, 4 skeletons, 10 ghouls (is this the max able to be summoned with the spell?), a ghoul minion, and a gargoyle. Topping it off with Haunted Memento, though it doesn't attack, it does add to the visual aspect. Now you'll look like the Lich King has personally sent you leading a strike force :)

There are other summoning trinkets but this an "Undead Army" theme, unless I missed another item summoning undead minions ;)

If it does 74 dps for 1 minute, that's 4440 damage (assuming it doesn't die, which a phase can be found in most fights). If the fight is about 5 mins, lets say 300 seconds, then the on use averages to 14.8 dps. Most mages get about 2 dps per haste, so this proc is about equal to 7 haste rating.

There are essentially four versions of this book:
The Book of the Dead from Balnazzar in Stratholme.
The Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire from the original level 60 Onyxia.
The replacement Antique Cornerstone Grimoire from Onyxia 10 man.
This stronger replacement from Onyxia 25 man.

The on-use effect for all of them is the same - to summon a Summoned Skeleton.
