I noticed this further up in the patch notes:

Flying Machine now requires 300 engineering skill to ride.

Makes me wonder if this could be an upgrade to an existing mount?

Well, most notably this model can be seen around the Skyfire during the new Krasarang dailies, and in particular the quest "A Kind of Magic", where Tinkmaster Overspark appears riding on top of one of these claws after you use the Scout-o-Matics. Hopefully this won't be the last of it.

I recently ticketed a GM about this mount and learned that, as of patch 5.1, it has not been officially implemented into the game. As a player mount that is. It may be an effect for NPC's like Tinkmaster Overspark, but this is pure speculation.

With the recent stuff datamined off the PTR for 5.2, it seems the Sky Claw has definitive icons for it now, coming in blue, green, and red.

With no other information regarding it still, I'm sincerely hoping it comes out 5.2 and it IS a mount upgrade. I've longed to have a passenger mount that isn't ridiculous looking.

Great! A new 2 Passenger Mount that will be worthless as a 2 Passenger mount thanks to the Cross Realms Bug that dismounts the 2nd Passenger!

Sadly, this mount wont be any fun until Blizzard fixes the Bug.

This looks exactly like the Siege-o-matic 4000 on the Skyfire in the Wilds. We will have to see... AHA. I saw some NPC riding the beast, ON TOP. So expect to be riding on top with your buddy..

today is 3/5/13 and 5.2 launches today. i do not see any info in the patch notes about this mount and can find no info anywhere else saying this has been implemented.

As of patch 5.4 (on PTR), this item is called "Not Sky Claw".
I understand that the WoW fanbase can be a bit dense at times, but did they really think we'd fall for that?

Renamed Sky Golem - and now instead of carrying an ally it allows herbalists to herb while mounted:

The claws are surprisingly delicate and ~~can carry an ally~~ herbalists can use them to pick herbs.

SKY GOLEM For what its worth I thought I would pass on what info I could as of 7/28/13 8AM EST. I've spent a lot of time searching the net, fan sites, and playing the 5.4 PTR and managed to find a few things out, but none of which is absolute when it goes live.

SKY GOLEM is the craziest of all engineering mounts, imo. Its a ton of fun to fly, swaying back and forth, side to side, barrel rolls w/a turbo boost all while bouncing off anything you get too close to! The Sky Golem transforms into a robot on the ground. You sit atop his chest which is a big, mean goblin head and the whole thing shakes, ratttles, and rolls with all kinds of steam, whistles, buzzing, and so on.

In the Vale of Eternal Blossoms that has been corrupted by the Sha, you (an engineer of either type) can get a drop of Schematic: Chief Engineer Jard's Journal off presumably any mob here. I don't know if it has to be a mob that's corrupted, but I went with that since it seemed logical based on the research I had done. My journal drop was on my 6th kill, so it didn't take long at all.

The journal contained 5 new item recipes:

1) Jard's Peculiar Energy Source ***CAN BE MADE ONCE PER DAY***
2) Sky Golem
3) Pierre
4) Rascal-Bot
5) Advanced Refrigeration Unit

I can't confirm the journal will have all 5 recipes when 5.4 goes live, but it seems to be what most fan site's reader's comments think.

The possible good news about the Sky Golem mount is it at least in PTR it looks like any class can (and did, LOL) have one and is account wide. This I base ONLY on what I saw in PTR. Since there is some potentially pretty nasty bad news, I wonder if Blizz may make it a profession specific mount only.

The possible bad news has to do with the mats which at least for PTR are the following:

1) Quantity 30 of Jard's Peculiar Energy Source ***DAILY CD***
2) Quantity 30 of Living Steel

I only notated the Jard's Peculiar Energy Source as being once per day because I didn't know if any of the other items, both new and old, will or will still have a daily CD. I'm not a pro at this, just trying to help a bit :)

Needless to say, if the numbers and the daily CD is accurate once live it will be a month before we see SKY GOLEMs roaming our lands and skies... and maybe seas too! Further more, it may be even longer before someone is willing to sell theirs as I would expect most engineers would want to keep the first one for themselves. Of course there may be a few people out there like me who have at least 2 engineers that are level 90 and the profession maxed (I wanted to be able to make both new rockets in MoP), who may have one for sale in a month.

I guess its possible that Blizz won't(?) make the Jard's Peculiar Energy Source soulbound so that they can be sold on the AH and in trade chat. That would surely make it one of the hottest & costly mats in trade. Regardless, those with a maxed engineer will have to create and/or come up with a stack of mats and those who don't will have to come up with a much, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BIGGER stack of gold to get one of the first up for grabs!

Hope this helps to answer some questions, gather a few thoughts, and perhaps start planning a strategy to be one of the first to get one of these crazy awesome mounts! Best of luck to all!

Hey all!

We know this mount is something very expected, so I wanted to inform you about a small visual glitch that is happening with it. At the moment, the name plate attachment is being displayed under the helm when helm is closed. We are aware of this and looking for a solution, will update you as soon as possible!

Just built mine, and inside the cockpit below the control levers there's a viewscreen thing, I guess? Anyways... It has Kerrigan from Starcraft 2 on it. Which blew my mind.

Just want to be sure before I buy this. If I get it on one realm, it will or will NOT show up a crossed all server? I have extra gold on an older server and this would be a great way to use it rather then have it just sit.

Bad news everyone, if you use the Preserved Holly or Fresh Holly to turn this into a Reindeer it does NOT keep the ability to gather herbs while mounted :(

Have a look at the "rim" around the seat where your character is sitting (on the outside of the mount), the yellow/green'ish rim. Can you see the white male gnome face? Creepy. Some gnome soul stuck in my mount... 0.o

Angle the camera above the mount and zoom in right behind your toon.

Amusingly enough, if you use it to gather herbs it will produce a buzzsaw from its right arm to cut the plant out.

"Delicate claws" indeed.

I thought, maybe from before it was released, that this mount gathered both minerals and herbs. Spent 30 days crafting it and can't mine... on an Engineering mount. It gave me such a sad.

I think there are some things that people really need to know about this mount.

After doing some research, I decided to purchase the 2014 Sky Golem to replace our aging Sandstone Drake mount that I had gotten 2 years earlier. I had never purchased a brand new model WoW mount so we were excited, and couldn't wait to try it out.

Upon receiving the mount, it looks fantastic, large metal robot, flying capabilities, a real head turner. The ladies really take notice, if you know what I mean.

But the first thing I noticed upon firing it up, was that the mount seems to have a very bad vibration to it. I am not sure if this is perhaps related to bad motor mounts, or maybe the timing is off on the engine, all I know is that I can't even use the cupholders without shaking and spilling my $4 cup of Starbucks latte. In fact, it shakes so badly that you can't even visually see what radio station you are watching, much less actually hope to use the buttons on the radio to change the channels or settings if I am unfortunate enough to suddenly have a Justin Bieber song pop up.

Still though I couldn't wait to get this thing in the air and fly high above the lands of Pandara. After taking off almost immediately the mount developed a troubling characteristic of drifting side to side, I am not sure if there is an issue with the internal GPS locator making constant corrections, but it's all over the place. I slam into trees and buildings on a regular basis because the freaking thing won't stay in a straight line.

I certainly hope there is a major recall soon, because, while I love the looks of this mount, these issues are serious and need to be addressed.

i can only tell one thing about this mount. if you are thinking about to level herbalism/alchemy with non druid class, just get it. proff leveling goes really smooth just because of this awsome mount. bought the mount and leveled both of my professions to 600 in one day and didnt have to spend a penny on AH.
