Along with the good exp the quest chain will net you, this robe will probably be used all the way to the 50s, possibly even further than that. It's a great robe, has great stats and should not be overlooked by any warlock.

All warlocks should get this robe. All warlocks keep this robe for quite a while. This robe is a good robe.

this quest takes a huge amount of time traveling. having a mage helps. I dont know that it was worth it. just my 2 cents

+Damage is superior to stats at all levels, especially while leveling. Increasing your mana pool only extends the amount of downtime, and the increase to crit is negligible; the exception is Imp. Drain Soul, and in this case, mana pool only needs to be large enough to make the talent worthwhile. You only need enough stamina to take a few hits, and alternatively, spell damage is a great way to boost survivability because Drain Life, Siphon Life, and Life Tap all scale with +damage.

I'm level 31 now, with 65 spell damage. No downtime, and I kill mobs very quickly.

Imo the effort for this simply doesn't do it. I'll probably make it because of the experience, but any warlock should just try and grab as much of the green Shadow Wrath gear they can. As mentioned earlier, the benefits are tremendous. My warlock is lvl 32 and has 140 shadow spell dmg (did twink her with a Staff of the Shade and a 30 spelldmg enchant), but the rest is from Shadow Wrath gear which is relatively cheap on the AH.

Already having a 70, it's apparent to me now how little gear matters on your path to get there. I would argue long travelling quests like this aren't worth the end result.

Just finish the regular quests for the 70 levels and start playing the real game :)

I didnt look too far into it before taking on this quest, i'm now done the part with the blood and i'm fed up, I'm now lvl 33, and can use the robes of power i made (which imo are better, and took me a lot less effort, and gold ) this quest chain is too long for the reward imo, maybe if they put some +dmg instead of some of that int (or as well as) the first few quests in the chain are good for buying xp (just buy the items you need on the AH for an easy 5k or so xp) but thats about it (imho)

This quest rewards 4900xp as of patch 2.3, rather than 3550.

I'm on this quest but I would rather go get the Shadoweave set from the ally and hordeMaster Shadoweave Tailor.. Still exp is exp.. I can always disenchant it. :)

As of patch 2.3 this chain is easily done at level 34. The hardest part is the fire elementals, but even though most of them were level 39 I was still able to solo them. Great exp, at 34 the chain took me from 3% of level to 89%. Lot's of running around though.

For this robe is perfect!I have a whole set of Intelligence and Stamina!With this robe i will be a Twinklord!This is 10 times greater than robes of Arugal,Robes of Power and even Death Speaker Robes!

Maybe I'm just weird but I didn't pick up this quest back when I might have considered. When I went in for training it came up along with the one for the offhand/staff quest, I picked it up cuz I figured like alot of people here exp is exp. But as a 42 lock, previous twinked out for 39 bgs, I got bored with this quest. I have all the mats and everything and I don't doubt I could do the killing, but I'd rather be doing more intersting quests. So meh. The reward not worth the effort imo.

the robes are nice until you get to SM- Lib and those drop off the last boss, or hit a luck spree in RFK, either way you go the xp is very nice and until you get those other robes these ones are great. Dont think theyll last you til 50's or beyond, if you not doing instances then you wont see a good reward drop til later in lvs like 45+ instance can replace that b4 you hit 40. and has better stats plus spell dmg robes of power are also equally great if nto a tad better than the bloodrobe. imao

Honestly Robes of Arugal are a good alternative to even robe of magi

lose a bit of int but gain the much needed stam for locks
keep some spirit that ud lose without robe of doan
and only suffer 2 spell damage for an easy robe that will last you a long time

Completed this chain at level 33. (I leveled twice, other xp too).
The hardest part of the quest is running to places where you havent been yet (like Desolace, Arathi Highlands, etc.). Mobs aren't that hard.

I bought the Robes of Arcana (earlier quest of the chain) for 13 gold, since I did not receive the recipe after 2 hours farming.

Love the Warlock quests ;p Best aspect of being a Warlock.

this quest is not worth it. It took me six hours to complete. I probably could have leveled up three times in that amount of time. Just get the Robe of Power instead or the Civinad Robes.

I did this as soon as i dinged to 31, i got a good 20k exp at least before i even got turned in the quest for her to make the robe

really good robe. simple to get/good stats/exp. what about spd? its good only in lvling or 1v1 pvp but if you want to go to bg on 30-39 you must get stama, spd wouldnt help you.

Patch 3.2 introduced a new heirloom item: Tattered Dreadmist Robe which is perfect for levelling warlocks. Along with the BoA Shoulderpads, you get a whooping 20% increased XP. That outweights any possible robe upto the highest levels.

In the days of the dungeon finder, it's probably not worth completing this quest for the reward, just the experience of doing it. Combine the ease of obtaining good dungeon loot and the way that the dungeon finder changes levelling stat values (less need for the survivability / soloing power of high int+stam, good damage output is better) and you'll find it's probably best to get a robe with a solid amount of +spell damage. Spellpower loot is more plentiful and easier to obtain now - when I levelled my warlock during early TBC, it wasn't a viable strategy to stack damage, but now you can confidently blow things up with a high spellpower gear set instead of going the slow-but-unstoppable affliction drain tanking route.

A pity, as I remember getting this quest chain and being excited about the end reward, and using this robe for quite a while on my low-pop server where levelling instances were a "one run every few levels" job.

Also, the robe of arcana required for this quest is often sold at an inflated price because of the small area the pattern drops and its status as a class quest material.
