Fish caught the normal way (with a fishing rod) will *not* offer credit for this world quest.

Run along the river until you find a location where the fish are leaping visibly in the water. From there, click on the fish themselves, and you will automatically throw a spear at them, catching them. Repeat 12 times, and you'll have your quest completion.

You do not need to pick any items up; you just need to find the fish jumping through the water, just above Nesingwary's Camp.

If for any reason you do not see jumping fish even when the World Quest is listed in your tracking interface, just leave the quest area and come back in. This will cause them to show up.

If you can't see the fish jumping, and have the little gnome girl from the Nessingwary camp following you, you might need to finish the related quests. I had that issue, and once she had stopped following me I could see the fish.

After being frustrated trying to click these fleeting, fast moving targets for 5 minutes, and only getting one fish, I decided to try just spam clicking over the water where they were jumping, with some attempt to target the jumping fish while doing so. this turned out to be a fairly effective way to finish the quest. I completed the other 11 fish in about 3 minutes.

Stand at 40.8,49.5, Turn off your Click-to-move (Settings, Interface, Mouse) position your camera so you're looking upstream almost flat against the water, put your mouse in one spot and R-click feverishly.

Location: Northeast of the nearest flight path at Nesingwary, Highmountain.

The marked quest area is around the stream running down through Pinerock Basin.

Objective: Spear 12 x Migrating Highmountain Salmon

Reward: 20 - 40 (varies) x Highmountain Salmon

Notes:

When entering the quest zone, there will be a text/ audio clip from Navarrogg;

The fish in this area swim up river to...well, I'm not sure, but they seem very excited about it. Great time for spear fishing!

There is no actual fishing involved, just clicking on the leaping Migrating Highmountain Salmon which spawn in the quest zone during (and after) this fishing world quest.
The player doesn't have to wait for a cogwheel icon (though occasionally they do appear) but simply to left or right click on the fish as they leap to spearfish them.
The leaping salmon are not actual NPC but a animated object.
There are hostile Pinerock Stalker along the west bank of the stream. Locating to the east bank will avoid them mostly.
If you enter combat (or occasionally just happens) the leaping salmon my disappear. Just move out of the marked quest zone and re-entering it should make them spawn again and current quest counter show the accurate numbers.
If the player currently has Addie Fizzlebog as a companion during the quest A Hunter at Heart, they will need to either complete the quest/s first or abandon it in order to get the salmon to spawn correctly.
If the player has trouble trying to target the quickly jumping fish, then aim more downstream or location where most salmon leap and spam click (left or right button) will usually spear the fish successfully.

This quest is a massive pain in the ass, the best method I found to complete it was to hold my mouse over where the fish were jumping and spam right click on the water. Finished the quest by doing this in about a minute.

Found them, followed advice. Got one fish in 10 minutes. I don't need salmon this badly. You'll do better catching them in pools

If you get there from the north and don't see the fish then go all the way to the end of the falls and over the log at the bottom. Then go back up north and you will see the fish jumping.

Jumping in the barrel at the top part of the river allows you to see them and you can right click/spear them while you're riding down.

This is the last WQ i need to finish the Fishing 'Round the Isles achievement but i have not yet seen this pop up on my map.

I check daily but it's never there for me. Anyone else having this issue?

You can do this quest mounted!

Every time this quest pops up on my map it boosts my mood entirely. This is the quality quest content I play this game for. Let's be honest when are you going to get to spear a real fish. The fish are jumping in the river and u have to spear them. It's annoying but cute. Omg and when you finish it the drogbar compliments you. What a good pure quest 10/10 would recommend

If you want to do this in a dignified manner (without running into the water) try standing behind a rock or outcropping.

If you have flying, I found that the quickest way to complete this quest was to hover above the water and position yourself facing against the current, so the salmon are jumping towards you. It should give you a larger window to click them.

Also, if for whatever reason you aren't getting credit, try leaving the quest zone and entering it again.

I had trouble doing this quest until i went and scrolled the camera into 1st person and angled the camera along the bank to see them jumping at me, got the last 8 fish in less than a minute.

The jumping fish move rapidly across the screen if you watch them from the side. If you stand by the river and move the camera so it points down or upstream, however, they remain stationary in one spot on your screen for most of their "jump". This makes it a simple matter to spear them.

I think this is bugged out tonight. Or, perhaps it doesn't work once one completes Fishing 'Round the Isles ?

I leave the area, I return and get the greeting from Navarrogg.

I get into the stream where I see leaping salmon, dismount, and get a rock/outcropping at my back to prevent me from being washed downstream.

If I duck my point-of-view underwater, it's easy to target the salmon.

I throw a spear, I hear the firing sound (swish of a spear), a purple shaft is seen hitting the fish, I hear the squishy-flesh-impalement sound, and the fish crashes into the water with a splash of spray.

Over and over.

But my counter remains 0/12 .

Over and over.

I have completed almost every non-Shadowlands fishing quest. This is the /first/ time I have seen this offered. I was excited about doing it. Bums me out mightily if there's some secret reason I cannot complete it. Eight hours left so I really see no point in continuing.

12-10-23 7:50 AM. I do not know what time it started but this quest is up right now on Stormreaver server. When I logged in, there were 7 hours left on it.
