I have never seen a casino advertisement. I didn't even know they you could have a WoW casino (/roll I guess?).I think it will only cause problems, almost encourage them.
Most casino adverts I see now-a-days are in /yell. And @natom, yes they just /random and have set winnings according to the roll. Personally, I don't care if casinos exist (I love playing poker, so one could say that I'm partial towards gambling), but as this post says, it's the advert spamming that drives me nuts. As I assumed the casino's were still illegal, I've been Reporting every advert I've seen, but I guess I should change to just ignoring the player, if Blizzard is going to allow casinos again.
One bored, guildless person use to advertise in trade for his casino before they outlawed advertisements. I was not aware the ban was lifted and the rest of my guild just assumed the GMs on our server were crooked or something.I did participate once with a guildie at the player's casino. Minimum bid was 5g, maximum bid was 200g. You would give him your money while in a party with him, /roll, and if you got higher than 60 you'd get double your money.. If you got higher than 90, you'd get double plus half I believe. We soon figured out that, contrary to typical casino set-ups like in real life, there is no way to skew the rolls in favour of the house so the player who set up the casino soon became poor. I think my guildmate ran off with hundreds of gold off this guy because she was on a streak and knew when to quit.As far as the casino issue itself, I really don't think they should have retracted their original stance in the first place. There will always be someone who feels as if they were cheated out of their money sooner or later, and it will cause more harm than good in the long run.
i play horde on gilneas, never seen anyone advertise for one, and didnt even know they excisted. I dont see what the big deal is/was
On Maiev (Server), casinos ran rampant and the number of advertisements drove everyone crazy. One bank toon lost 7k gold to a casino in two rolls. This shows the danger. I think that casinos should be allowed if they hold back on the number of advertisements and the amount of gold you can bet per time.
Didn't we go over this a few weeks ago? This is like the "moderator approved thread necro" =|
Few trustworthy casinos on my server. One of them I liked. <3Place x gold and if you roll 60-99 get 2*, roll 100 get 10*, roll 0-59 get nothing back!Let's just say he didn't catch on to the; /roll 100-100<_< >_>
I think they banned casinos again, actually.Correction: they only banned the advertising of it.http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=27048 <--- Source.
If two players want to bet, or wager on a duel, that is their business.Yell an advert, or spam trade and get one complaint, Buh-bye ... which is apparently Blizz policy.Good.
It is a freaking good thing they removed casino! It was a scam. (Definition of scam is, abusing stupid people :P)You would more chance to make gold by buying the mats to make a northrend card and asking a Scribe to craft you one than playing any casino.
Nothing's illegal unless you get caught. But yea they were annoying.
Personally, I got annoyed by them. I also didn't like the practice. I'm glad they banned the advertising.I know people have their own thoughts, but I as a person find no issue with banning practices that are unhealthy, unethical, harmful, or otherwise deviant.
well I have seen casinos in-game and they were playing about anything!Items of any value. But this was a year ago.Thinking all these achievements added who cares rolling for Infinity Blade?
I know one of my guildies ones run but its just for in guild on a non raid night so probally not a bad thing that there not altogether banned imo. Never had any problems with casino spam...only ones I have seen have been in yells which is fine as far as I am concerned.
it was a totally random choise
All the /y adverts are getting to my mind.
Casino is the devil!
I have enjoyed the casino 1-2 times but the constant spamming was just annoying
