Shortly after reaching level 70 on my now defunct holy pally, I decided to challenge myself by soloing Teremus the Devourer in the Blasted Lands. During the long battle, he knocked me back and reset his HP by about 40%, but that didn't deter me. The entire fight lasted about 40 minutes. How I didn't run OOM, I'll never know. Now I could solo him in a couple minutes, but back then it was epic, and I was genuinely proud of the crappy level 45-50 BoE blues I got.
My most epic drop was when I finally killed the fourth demon to obtain Rhok'delar and Lok'delar. The quest was idiotic and tiresome, but it was totally, 100% worth it.
My third most epic loot was T7 helm from illidan, because i topped dps charts on it ^_^
-- Daddy's New Dancing Shoes --I must say, I have been playing WoW for almost 3 years. I raided Black Temple and Mount Hyjal on my Priest and got some decent Epic Lewtz but last night was probably the best and most frantic for me. I have been kinda in a funk lately and got back into it last week and have been playing catch up. Last night, I hit 80 and was invited to a Naxx Group. I figured, Okay I'll be alright, the gear is lacking but I can handle it. We were already into the Plague Wing and when we got to Heigen, we wiped the first two times because people couldn't handle the running. Well third time around, we started to get it, after the second rotation we lost two of our healers and I was the only one left. So I solo healed 4 other people and downed him and I was shaking the whole time while the rest of the guildies sat silently in vent watching. After the down, everyone was singing my praises ... and I am the new owner of a nice shiny new pair of dancing shoes ... Saltarello Shoes Thats my epic story and I'm sticking to it!
Halberd of Desolation
It was a few days ago actually, and I on my pally. Me and a few friends were doing normal Violet Hold. Only three of us were on vent, the other two were were pug people. When the tank dies, normally the group wipes; and when the group wipes in VH, ya gotta restart the whole event. But we were so lucky as to not have to wipe fully. We all died once, but the druid healer had a soul stone, and used it in time to rez everyone. We pulled through until the next boss, which was the arcane ball dude. On him, my pally tank died along with two dps. I thought it was a wipe, so stupidly I walked all the way back into the instance making myself alive again. But not all died, and thus I was stuck because of the doors locking while the instance is in effect. Luckily there was a warlock in the group and he was quick on his feet to summon my butt back in. We pulled through, the boss reset without us having to redo everything and the Riot Shield dropped for myself. Very nice upgrade at the time.-Reinheld
My first ever epic: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=870 dropped off a slime that jumped me in Dustwallow Marsh.
I was never a real grinder. I couldn't do such mindless killing for hours. The one time I decided I would really grind, non-quest, was for mageweave cloth. On the AH on my realm, it was selling for 15g a stack, and had been for about a week. It's usual price before that and since then is about 5g. I came onto Wowhead and found the best place to grind it, in Feralas, since they also dropped the feathers for Darkmoon Faire. I had been grinding for about an hour, and I was totally sick of it so I decided to call it a day and catch a flight to Darnassus (Don't ask me why Darnassus, that's just where I went). I was running out of the area I was grinding when one of them started attacking me. I decided to kill it to see if he would give me the last two cloth to make all my stacks full. He did, but he gave me something else. He dropped an epic staff, which was my first epic drop ever. The staff went on to sell for 300g on the AH, and the 300g was enough for me to get my 100% mount. I'm not really sure which of the two, my mount or the staff, was my most epic drop ever, it might have been both, but that day was my best (quite likely my last) day of grinding ever.
honestly the most epic thing I ever got was the firefly drop from the bugs in Zang:) i like it.
2nd Most epic drop for me was getting the Merciless casting staff about 1 week before Wrath and realizing I wasted a ton of honor on it.
Finally getting my Spirit of Competition pet from the Beijing Olympics event.
My Mature Blue Dragon Sinew.
Back in the day when BC was new, my friend and were leveling our characters in Western Plaguelands. My friend was a 53 rogue (Combat daggers) and I was a 52 hunter (Marksmanship). We were doing a quest near Uther's Tomb when we saw a 55 human pally. We quickly ran over and killed him while he was fighting a mob (Yes, we were gay like that). We were back to doing our quest when the pally came back looking @#$%ed. However, he didn't stand a chance against both of us. We quickly killed him again without either of us going below half health. At this point we were confident that he would be fine when Mr. Paladin rolled up on us again. But this time he had brought some of his friends. A 52 rogue and a 51 Priest had joined the fight. It was a hard fight especially with the priest healing but in the end both my friend and I lived, but only barely. For the next 20 minutes, both sides clashed consistently. None of us were getting our quests done and we were running low on food. My friend and I talked about leaving and coming back later to do the quest when the battle became even more challenging. Once again, more people had joined the fight. A 58 Mage and a 55 Hunter had joined the fray. Soon we were fighting with everything we had. We used all our CDs and our health pots in that fight. It was even longer because they kept respawning (The ally GY is only %^&*ing 10 feet away so we ended up fighting them all twice at least before we got a break). We ended up screaming at each other in vent during the fight. The adrenaline was pumping and i could feel my heart beating like crazy, as could my friend. We managed to conquer the allies.....but then got owned because we didn't have enough time to get our health back. So, we ran back and made a quick escape involving a frost track and aspect of the pack. All in all, it was a great experience that both my friend and I still remember. It also taught us a great lesson, what goes around comes around.
An Epic battle i had recently...me and 3 other guildies were 4 maning ZG. Druid, Mage, War, and Resto Shaman (Me). Well we cleared everything to the Undead boss and then pulled him...right away it didn't look good. The Mage and Druid died real fast from the Mind Control confusion leaving me and the Warrior to duo it down.20 min and at least 30 Mind Control/sacrifices/running away from the boss, warrior, and many skellys later we got him down. Most fun I ever had in ZG.
One of the greatest epics i ever got was when i was with a group of real life friends in Zul'Farrak. I was afk with follow on one of them and when I came back i noticed everyone /roll'd besides me so I'm just like "uhh ok /roll" and i rolled a 91 and won.. i didn't even know what it was for but it turned out to be the Boots of Avoidance. Since this was my only character on their realm i was really happy to find out I could make some money from the auction house.. The real epicness though is the day after I got the boots. I was still in Tanaris so i decided to go quest and while i was killing at the pirate infested area Nightblade dropped. This made me freak out even more since Nightblade sells for almost 3x the amount Boots of Avoidance does. Then, even after that, I had a blue BoE drop for me every day after that for the rest of the week... What a week!
My epic loot would have to be Lok'delar, Stave of the Ancient Keepers/Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers when I finnaly killed each demon spending hours trying to find and destroy them, gold on potions and hiring people to help, and then at last I get my glorious bow/staff that declares me no huntard any longer but a hunter was formed.
Hmm.. I guess my most epic item ever was back in Pre Burning Crusade. I recall my first ever Molten Core run on my warrior and i managed to snag myself the oh-so-gorgeous Obsidian Edged Blade!
After discovering how vast WoW was at 70, and how I was lacking in gear compared to those already starting to progress into SWP, I decided that I would addict myself to the game to see how far I could progress. Sometime after I had decided what gear I would go for first I found myself entrapped within Heroic MGT. For the next 3 weeks I would battle it out for gear within the instance. And to my surprise, my first drop was http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34604, Jaded Crystal Dagger! Was I stoked at the time. Thinking I'm all uber, I prance around with it consider myself "well geared" until the putdowns come. So some thought it was a noob weapon, well I showed them. The next four months I battled against Kael'Thas, Vashj, Archimonde... to my own surprise even Mother Sharaz. Although I did not consider the weapon epic at the time, I found it a burden. But I had grown attached to that little fellow. And when I got my replacement weapon, thinking "Finally! I can be rid of you once and for all", I could not. For that little dagger got me through some of the hardest parts of the game. Kudos to Jaded Crystal Dagger, and a big fat ner to those who can't believe.^___^edit: link
After nearly a month of attempts on Lady V in SSC, and having got all my other pieces of T5, Oh how sweet it was to finally see those beautiful words pop across my screen: "Lady Vashj has been defeated." And behold! To the victor go the spoils.
My most epic loot was back in classic WoW. My guild had Molten Core on for over a month but Perdition's Blade would never drop from Ragnaros. One run we decided to take some alts into the raid to gear them. With the alts in the raid, the run went slower then usual and included a wipe or two. After dragging on for what seemed like forever we finally made our way to Ragnaros. The fight was seeming to be going well until a bunch of healers were killed by his adds. Shortly after, the main tank was taken out and Ragnaros went loose soon after. He was at about 25% when it happened and all the dps threw up their cooldowns and gave it all they had. He finally dropped with only 12 or so people left alive. After waiting once again this time for all the rezzing, I looted him as soon as possible and wouldn't you know it, he dropped the dagger. Unfortunately I was not the only rogue looking for it so I had to get lucky on the roll. All the rolls went out except mine and the highest I saw was an 83. I typed /roll, hit enter, and watched as an 86 popped up. I cried out in happiness on ventrilo as the blade was given to me. That was the most epic loot experience I have seen.
