Eh, still on the fence about all this procs business until I see it in action and on the meters.
I actually agree somewhat with Watcher here.In fact, I'd add that if you're already at the stage where you are wearing this ring, you shouldn't even be QQ'ing anymore about any suboptimal or even almost abusive usage of its CD on LFR ... if you're still running LFR with that ring, then you're probably doing it for some secondary reason (runes, gold, whatever), and not for the loot ... To me it feels like Blizzard can never try anything new without a very big chunk of the playersbase voicing tons of concerns and giving devs a tentation to "tweak" the idea back into oblivion ...
Well...I guess that makes sense. Still kind of concerned about the range factor (of the DPS rings) though. In its current state, either the ranged DPS using the ring has to get close (mostly in a solo or 5-man scenario) or a melee DPS has to activate it. It's not a super big deal at the personal level since I play a Hunter and can just run in (thus resulting in a frequent assignment for Butcher stack management), but not every class can do that. Even then, there's going to be situations where the range want to stay at range. There's proof of precedence that Blizzard tends to account for this, since they went out of their way to make the cloak proc ranged for Hunters even though it's the same cloak as other agility DPS. I was really hoping this point would be addressed in the third part, but it wasn't.
It seems as if you are creating items that require grinding so you can grind for a grind that is grinding a grind that grinds.Tablets that require 300 pieces, and they MIGHT drop one from a boss. Thanks but no thanks.
Interesting mechanic. I didn't know they'd changed it. I thought they were still going with the one where it jumps around the raid and you get a guaranteed ten seconds of something, in turn.At first I thought that the effects in the above items were a bit complex, but after reading some of the examples in the blue post, I'm optimistic. After all, learning how to play a class and how to fight in a boss encounter is something we embrace, and take for granted. They become easier with experience. I expect the raid-wide effects these rings offer will be the same. I do not envy raid leaders, though :-DIt's nice that Blizzard are putting some emphasis on teamwork. Times ahead in Hellfire Citadel will be challenging, but rewarding.
Meh, I agree with some points raised by Watcher, but I'm still VERY disappointed that the rings are nothing more than a raid-wide Cooldown. It could be just me, but I'm just not a fan of cooldowns in general. I prefer passive procs because those happen frequently. I vastly prefer an effect happening multiple times and give small boosts, than a fat large boost on a long cooldown. Why? because then its too easy to deem the large fat effect "too awesome to use" which leads to it barely being used at all.Its why for example, I vastly prefer passive trinkets that offer a proc, than trinkets with an On-use effect. Its perfectly demonstrated with me that the former gets far more uptime than the latter per fight.Just as it works with trinkets, it should be the same way with legendaries. Its the same reason why I feel like the tier bonuses that offer procs are SO much better than the bonuses that just flatly increase the damage or effect of any specific ability.
With posts like this, I'm not in the least surprised they have lost 3m subs in a quarter.
will this ring be usable in rated pvp ?
Oh okay someone else can activate my ring for me? i'm totally okay with it. because i dont have to have it on my bars if someone else can trigger it for me. already have a cluster orgy on my bars as is.
I can see this becoming exploited by trolls frequently. And we won't know who is proccing it because it will go off for everyone. For Guilds it would be very nice - coordinated and precise, but for the Raid Finder pugs (as well as LFR) this will get annoying very fast. I dislike this ring in general. I dislike the Vers on it. Its my worst stat! Now you are pretty much forcing us to use it for the awesome buff. And to add insult to injury you let others trigger it? Jesus christ how horrifying.
Give the legendary rings a new ability unique to the player's class that fits their roles and playstyles. It might both give the legendary ring players the personality they've been looking for in a legendary, and it'll give raid leaders viable boosts in healing, survivability, and damage-per-second among their members.
