sounds awesome, but alot of Blizz ideas look good on paper, the implementation will tell soon
Right.... this is exactly what groups working on a new heroic boss need -- to waste time clearing stuff they've already killed 20 times for an even more skewed loot-pinata system. sigh
I am cautiously optimistic.
hey 25's, have some free extra loot because your raid leadership works hard and you all just show up and get better loot. totally fair..
My question is, wouldn't this theoretically make some of the tier obsolete right off the bat? I mean, if all non-tier pieces are going to have the capability of being Thunderforged, why would you waste time on trying to get a tier item when you can get a higher ilvl item with possibly better min-maxed stats on it (albeit unless your tier bonus is amazing).
I like it, it gives the 25-man an increase loot bonus that can be clearly seen without being too overpowered. Currently, in a 25-man 5 pieces drop instead of 2, so most people see that and just think it doesn't matter since it's 1 piece per 5 people but it's all in the luck factor. As long as the piece shows up, it doesn't matter if it's 25 man or 10 man and actually it's better in 10 man since there is a greater chance of you being the only one to use it so people have been decreasing their raid groups. With this new system, people will be more willing to make those 25-man groups since they want those "Thunder-Forge" items to drop. Also, people will be wanting to kill the bosses more since now they always have a chance for an upgrade so less chance of people "Sitting out" on those raid nights they are trying to gear people. If they keep it off the tier, then it keeps the casuals happy since at least the tokens will give them their "Best-in-slot".This will be a step in the right direction but there is a small chance that people will quit the game over it but it's less of a chance at the moment since most people on now are not really in it for the loot, but the friendship.
/em waits for someone to parody AC/DC Thunderstruck...... You've Been.. THUNDERFORGED!
This is dumb, Thunderforged should only drop in 25m raids. Adding another piece of gear you have to pray to drop is stupid and just becomes even more of a time sink.
So, they basically add more RNG to the existing RNG?It's already annoying enough when loot gets disenchanted, because nobody can wear it.I'm not looking forward to disenchanting thunderforged loot.
^^^^ 10 mans are a joke compared to the coordination it takes to do the same bosses on 25. this coming from someone who was a raid leader in a 10 man guild and now runs with a 25 man group. if you want to encourage people to go back to 25 man groups this loot should only be available for 25 man groups. unless the chance for a drop is incredibly higher for 25 mans (which i doubt) this will have little to no effect on getting people to switch back to 25s if they can still get the same loot in their current 10 man team.... i appreciate the try blizz, thanks, but no thanks. this wont have a noticeable effect getting 10 man teams to move to 25s.
This will never be a true addition to make 25 mans more appreciated, it will only be an item which none will see realistic to obtain due to it's low drop chance in the extremely few bosses per raid Pandaria have and raiders simply carry on their raiding as usual, with no extra motivation. The one and only solution will always be to restore 25 man raiding to it's former glory: To always have a higher item level in loot over 10 man. It indeed is what it is, a simplified version of the raid and should never have been implanted in the first place.
I think I'm fine with this. I have a feeling there's going to be some QQ over it, and there are some potential flaws, but for now, I have no issue with this idea.
I have an idea - pull an Ulduar and give the bosses hardmodes ( or "elite modes" as you call it ) and make the Thunderforged gear drop off those hardmodes.
IMO they should make the 25-man versions harder too, for if it would be the same, everyone would just do 25-mans and barely ever 10-mans!
