As soon as Blizzard lets me upload a profile pic and adds a "look for random female players" I'm shutting down my facebook account xD!
Blizz sure takes a long time to catch on. When I left City of Heroes for World of Warcraft six or seven years ago, CoH had already had the "offline" feature since its inception two or three years before. It's a fantastic capability, and I've longed for it many times over the years when I just want to log on and play and not deal with anyone else, even my friends, but not wanting to insult them either by turning on the "Do Not Disturb" sign.
To all those whining about how this change is a bad thing. Help me understand how it affects your game play? Its a good thing for those that have wanted it, and it has zero affect on those that don't use it.
For anyone wondering this 'appear offline' mode has been available for over 3 years for PC users. you just go into Windows Firewall, find battle.net, block it once you log in your account and before you log into a character. kaboom!
Thanks Blizzard! The community appreciates this!
Congratulations, they are ANNOUNCING a feature that has been a standard in the entire online gaming industry, not just MMOs, for WAY over the last half-decade, with even the likes of Runescape having it years ago. I'm just glad they didn't ignore it completely.
Warcraft, an MMORPG/MMOG that brings people together to quest to raid to enjoy the game - socializing to an extent. And now, we have the offline function - making a social game anti social! Brilliant hehe! Jokes aside, when you just want to have some privacy, some people will benefit from this. But I fear it will just be too anti social and people will question "Why is X appearing offline? They said they'd help with X?" - in other words it might backfire. We shall see! :)
Cant wait for this awesome feature to make it live!Sick and tired of always getting whispers help me with this, lets go do that! etc. and when you tell someone that you are not up for it they get upset. So finally there will be a solution to that without hurting anyones feelings :)
So, we have the option to appear offline, to the people I know, but not the option to turn off CRZ so we may want to be alone, but have 30+ people from realms, that we don't know & can't put on ignore, to bug us! great.
I would like it if people on ur real id list couldn't "view friends" because that sorta makes people exposed that otherwise would not be...
