Good thing I got it before heh.
whoah wait hold on.I have this mount on 7 of my level 80s.5 of them have had epic flying since pre-patch and all their drakes are 310% speed, not just the violet.I didn't bother to buy epic flying at Brewfest when I got 2 more drakes on 2 other characters because I didn't play them enough.I opened a GM ticket today because I was going to buy it on my warlock. He told me tough luck I should have bought it pre-patch because now I have to spend 10000g to get 310%, even though I have the drake in my inventory. So now Zarhym is saying that if I buy the regular 5k (4k discount) flying I won't have to spend another 5k?
If you get the Violet now, you won't get free Master flight.
who is right Adamsm or Bdog?
As I understand it, right now you don't get Master Riding for acquiring the Drake from the What a Long Trip it's been achievement. But, with this hotfix, you will get the Master Riding skill when you use the Drake for the first time.
God damn it, the damn edit didn't take again.....I had originally put in I misread that; I thought it said you acquired the Drake after the patch date, you were out of luck for the free Master flying, but after re-reading it, see that I was wrong.
So even though I don't have epic flying but it's my inventory and I train it BEFORE? the hotfix I will get master free. But if you the Violet proto drake after the hotfix tough luck? I will get 3 more at Halloween's event. When is this hotfix? 5am?
I suppose than when you buy Artisan Flying (280%) you will be able to learn the Violet Proto-Drake (without it you can't) and, after the first use of the mount, you will learn Master Riding.
maybe I will wait until the hotfix to buy epic flying on my warlock just so I don't get screwed out of gold.Is the hotfix at 5am?
I think this is a good thing, especially given that many people were expecting a 310% mount for completing the achievement (I'm not one of them but I might be in the future). Thanks Blizz for listening.
If you had a 310% on the night before the Patch, you got Master for free.
Every time I think I hate Blizzard they do something like this.Only needs the Hallow's Eve achievements --->
OK, after scanning through the 30 some pages of the posts on the official forums, this is what I have "concluded". Perhaps someone will be able to offer some blue clarity to this, but its seems, from both the posts, and this statement:I have a slight update to spread to the masses. We are going to be adding a hotfix for the achievement What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been. This hotfix will make it so that obtaining the Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake will award players Master riding. So, Completing the Long, Strange Trip Meta....EVEN AFTER THE PATCH, will award the drake AND Master riding skill as a reward. The post from Zarhym above comes near the end of the topic, after repeated statements that indicated what we all thought, that you had to have it before 4.0.1 to get the free Master riding. It would appear that the QQ has won out once again, and they decided that this achievment, because of the year long timeframe and dedication, was worthy of the extra 5k bonus. And, I for one, would agree. With new gear and higher levels of HP and DPS, most of the other 310 mounts would have become trivial to obtain, but the Barney drake is going to take the time and dedication, no matter what level you are or what gear you have. I would also bet a box of Hot Pockets that we will see future mounts with faster than 310, or other special abilities introduced in Cata. The most obvious candidate would be for Arena rewards, since, for as long as I can remember, a special ability mount has been in the top tier rewards.
Son of a ^&*!@. I bought the training because of the previous post saying that you'd need to get it if you didn't have a drake before 4.0.1. Of course, I'll have my drake on Monday when Hallow's End starts. So I'm out 4000 gold.
Im happy I got a Violet drake already. I dont have to waste any gold to buy 310% training. I like that all of my flying mounts can now have 310% ^^
