Since Vanilla I have enjoyed the talent mechanisms greatly. I lean towards more complexity, not simplicity. I understand Blizzard's concern that the current version is 'over whelming" for some players. But players that find it too difficult can always use a cookie cutter spec. Blizzard could even provide that as an option in the menu settings. Why turn one of the most unique aspects of a game (individualism) into nothing more than a 1 minute, connect the dots task, that puts you square in the mold of everyone next to you? Without real choices, you have rendered the concept dead and obsolete for those who have used it for many years it to make their characters special. Heck, remember when you had no way of knowing another player's talent choices? That was loads of fun. All the secrecy, intrigue and guessing that went on was very entertaining. Now, unfortunately, you know too much about other players. If you're going to dumb it down Blizz, then why even make me punch in the talent points. How about I just choose my role, and you provide me the 1 of 1 choice that will be available, as dictated by a paid game designer.
I disagree this makes spec'ing easier or less customizable. Like anyone customizes specs now... everyone in wow min maxes and uses cookie cutter specs. If you don't you are bad. Tri specs might look cool but they never work out.I like this because I think it provides a more definite flavor for each tree. If you are a resto druid you are a resto druid from level 1 and you don't have to wait til 70 to get your class defining skill. Mostly I think it makes a huge difference leveling. Imagine an enhance shaman able to dual wield and stormstrike from level 1! Sounds awesome. If you really want spec variety what needs to happen is the dmg dealing specs need to be equal with each other. You should have to go arcane over fire cus it's so much more dps, and it shouldn't be that they scale so differently with gear so fire is only good in the last teir of gear etc. Then you'll actually have mages of all 3 specs raiding which will be more fun. With less talents that's easier to attain as well, it's easier to balance.
I really don't have a problem with the 31 point talent trees, the fat needed to be trimmed. BUT i don't like the subpar talents we got stuck with ie, early frost. (I really hope that those talents that are bland and deflated will be improved and replaced.) But the 1 thing that eats at me with the trees is the lock out till 70. That's the kicker and the thing that makes me /facepalm. Can we just replace it? Take this for example, pick a main spec get the bonuses and then put your talents anywhere you want them... But you must have at least 5 points more in your main than in any other tree. Effectively making the hybrid 23/18/0 or 17/12/12. to Op? move the limiter to 7 or 10 or rearrange to compensate for hybrids. Anything but the nerf hammer. Which Btw wouldn't hurt me because it's made of foam.
Laugh and rake in money... But seriously i think that right now, in a deep underground bunker they are rather A, rethinking the lockout or B, moving onto more problematic area because they think they know better than us. Shouda went with A.
hellfail's army is terribad, join stormrage we have cookies and milk with a side of epic.
