1.First char questing in Darkshore. This zone became a home for me for like a week, because you know everyone is a noob in the beginning. I miss these first wow days: so much information and some new game expirience, as WoW was my first RPG.2.Checking the world map for the very first time after 1-2 start quests. "Ok,thats my start village, thats my zone,WOW,so big....let's zoom out a little...what the....?" Even now I remember every moment of the exploring of this enormous world of wonders as good as it was an hour ago.3.The beauty of the capital cities. Its was "Oh my God,so huge!", but then i saw like a hundred people from all over the world in action and my astonishing continued. Unfortunatly, now you wont see more than 4-5 players in such capital like Darnassus...4.Of course first inst, Deadmines. Teamwork was horrible actually (that was long time ago, when one char lvl 60 was a very strong reason for respect),but still so much joy! No bagging, no evil ninjing,i miss those days.5.Warsong Gulch battleground 59 bracket. We very like titans for all other low-level players and our battles were some kind of Ragnarök. Now almost the same happens with 80lvl guys, but no way it is that Classic WoW feeling, because the number of players increased monstrously.
1. First, forever and always, will be starting my first character and exploring Northshire Valley. It was a tiny tiny portion of the game, but it was the defining moment that hooked me in this game and kept me coming back again and again.2. Definitely my second would be Deadmines. My first instance, and part of such a fun chain that it will always stand out as one of my favorite moments.3. LFG SFK! 3rd would probably farming Shadowfang Keep about 2 dozen times with my friend to get all the good caster gear. I ended up keeping the Robes of Arugal until like 62 or something crazy like that.4. Getting my Halo of Transcendence on my priest, I thought it was the coolest looking thing ever. Too bad I don't play her anymore.5. Onyxia Attunement. Was a bit of a hassle, but it was also the most fun quest chain I can remember.
1: Hands down, beating Ragnaros for the first time. After weeks and weeks of Molten Core, getting enough people with the water to douse the runes and finally... FINALLY you kill him. Epic with a capital E.2: The Onyxia questchain. Such a long chain with so much story behind it is something I haven't found a lot since in WoW. Plus, having a dragon in Stormwind... Horde doesn't have that in Orgrimmar, now do they? :)3: The Vaelastrasz fight in BWL. You have unlimited mana, rage or energy, but Vael blows up a raidmember every X seconds. A system that works far more believable than present day enrage timers. For example: Yogg-saron suddenly does a "OMGWTFPWN" shadowblast to the whole raid after 15 minutes... Why couldn't he have done that at the start then? <_<4: Maraudon after the waterfalls. It was the first instance I ever saw and I still love it. It's so grand and the colours are so alive it is still, look-wise, my favourite vanilla instance.5: The AQ opening event. As epic-fail as it was to the server when thousands of players gather at Silithius, this event and the questline that goes before it is beyond anything seen after it. Having the entire server help out to gain access to new instances or places is a concept that worked well and I'd like to see it return in some form.
1:The moment I got my protodrake from the cracked egg.2:My first view beyond the dark portal of a huge battle going on.3:Wowhead.Do I need a reason?4:Engineering when WOW first came out.5:my warlocks first infernal. It was worth the long hard quest
(1) Getting Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers and my Epic priest staff Benediction. It was really work! (waiting in EP for the NPC to respawn was nuts). There has been nothing like the feeling of accomplishment when I finished that hunter quest line though. Having to kill those three demons @ level was especially difficult at the time for me and required attempt after attempt after attempt. Especially that darn Winterspring Demon. I truly honed my jumpshot for that.(2)The first WoW raid check ever. In Molten Core. Getting 40 people down the pathway before Hounds had a chance to respawn. It is my first ever nightmare raid memory and one of the best memories once my guild mastered it. It was like a symphony playing. Everything working in unison quickly and efficiently lest we be eaten from behind by the giant lava dog. (3) The Ragnoros Fight, another first in raid coordination. Being ahealer and trying to survive knockbacks and staying the heck away from the Sons.(4) The opening of the AQ gates. Lagfest that is was... the buildup and gathering of mats etc made it just simply epic and memorable.(5) LOL hours of Southshore WORLD PVP. Massive amounts of bones and you actually got ranked for it!
1. The Defias storyline. I love this one. Right from level one you're involved in the story line that leads you through Elwynn Forest, Westfall, right into the Deadmines, and just when you thought you were finished, you then deal with more in Stormwind, the Stockades, and then Redridge. To my knowledge, no other storyline goes that far.2. Molten core. Gotta love a boss that can mind control you, kill the rest of your raid, and have you back into his patrol path before the MC breaks. And that's just the first boss!3. Onyxia. I have a personal love/hate issue with this fight. I love the epicness of bringing down a major dragon, and in her own lair no less. To date though, I have helped drop the beast dozens of times and still haven't been able to claim a judgement crown.4. Paladin mount quest. I did this just before the price on pristine black diamonds nosedived, so it cost a fortune, but the end fight made up for it, where having 3 paladins was the equivalent to steamrolling the fight.5. Hogger. Without a doubt the most diabolical enemy when you first encounter him. I can't think of a single person, playing for the first time actually beating him without help. To date, every time I make a major accomplishment, I go back and beat him down for kicks.
1. My very first character I played on a trial account, a undead warrior named Martuche. I had no idea what I was doing and I'm sure that I died tons of times but I only remember good things about it. Getting my first green was great (a two-handed sword with attack power? That's definitely getting equipped) and I got to level 14 in just a few days. I moved from Tirisfal to the Barrens and it was amazing seeing all those quests just waiting for me to complete them and get their sweet, sweet experience. I didn't get too deep into Barrens, which is probably for the best since I was on a PvP server, but the week after the trial ended I bought the WoW battle chest in January 2006 and haven't stopped playing. I created a new account so I imagine that little guy is still logged out in Crossroads, doomed to never be played again.2. My run through Wetlands as a night elf to get to Ironforge and then Stormwind. This was an epic journey since I was level 15 or so running through an area full of level 22 mobs, trying to dodge around crocolisks and avoiding orcs. This was a long run and definitely an exercise in patience and humility trying to survive in an area that I really shouldn't have been in yet. As an old man now with several 80s under my belt on both sides I'm disappointed that part of the world was removed. It was a great character builder!3. Getting a gold coin. It seemed that it took forever to get money up and when I finally got that single gold coin I held onto it jealously. It took me 20 levels to save up this much, how was I expected to save up enough for a mount in 20 more levels? I had to ask for money from a friend when I finally hit 40 to buy my mount. Now with dailies I'm earning 300 gold a day but I'll never forget the value of that one gold coin.4. Hanging out with my real life friend when I finally got up to level 53. Fast forward a couple months on my night elf and a talent change from feral to balance. I was a happy little owlbear and finally the same level as my shaman friend so we finally got to hang out in the same area and do quests. I was pretty impressed by what a shaman can do but what galled me the most was Water Shield. Here I am running out of mana left and right and here this bastard can conjure up a shield of water for free that produces extra mana. I told him as much and he made sure to rub it in my face extra hard by casting Water Shield over and over again. I vowed there and now to make a shaman after I finished leveling my druid and a year later that shaman is my main.5. Starting and joining my first guild. I had just spent a day playing WoW at my friend's apartment and I got home pretty late and night but as soon as I got back he called me and told me to log on and sign this guild charter he had. I really didn't know what he was talking about but I logged in all the same and signed. The guild finally started and I was the founding member of Ex Imperium, my first raiding guild. We got a pretty substantial member base as time went on we started raiding. I've got fond memories of wiping our way through Kara, betting on what Opera event was going to happen and finally killing Prince. Unfortunately that's as far as we got; the guild kind of fell apart as we were starting on Zul'Aman. But those were still good times and I got my first epic from there. I miss you, Staff of Infinite Mysteries.
Encounter: I'd have to say, Hakkar the Soulflayer was my favorite fight of all time. Hack, slash, get the poison, infect Hakkar, repeat. Simple, but somehow still challenging. Although not my favorite instance, Zul'Gurub was fascinating. I almost felt how it would be like to live there as a jungle troll. Troll instances always rocked my World(of Warcraft).Zone: Would have to go with Azshara. After reading some Warcraft lore, I found so much out about this place. Large zone, many different things to accomplish, and also, in my opinion, one of the best, seemingly overlooked zones in WoW. In Cataclysm, Azshara becoms a lower leveled zone, so who knows if it'll remain in my top or not.Quest: Hmm, this one's a bit harder, but I think i'd go with anything in The Barrens. Sure, it IS big and more often than not, boring, but it had a wide variety of low leveled quests which, looking back, probably helped me alot when I went further and leveled mulitple level capped characters. Still can't find Mankrik's wife though...Instance: Favorite instance stands with Scarlet Monastery, all wings. This being my first instance hub, I thought that was remarkable, considering the level range of the instances. You can litterally stay doing SM from 20 through to 40. Graveyard wasn't very fun, since it was short, but it introduced me to the life of a Scarlet Crusader. Battling the undead hordes and taking tips from Interrogator Vishas sure do put some strain on those soldiers of the Light. Library was nice, Armory was nicer. (Herod was just badass). But when time came to triumph over Cathedral, I took hold of a mace and a shield, and tanked for countless groups. And that was just on my Shaman. Beautiful instances, wonderful lore, all in all, a very cool place.Item: Although, I should be giving credit to the quest line, the best item in vanilla has to be Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros. The first time a friend showed me the weapon that his guild just crafted, I almost teared up at it's pure epicness. Being the first Legendary i've ever seen, it will stay in my mind forever. Beautiful weapon, beautiful questline, and what an awesome way to show off. I still see people in Trade chat looking for some of it's mats, but it's just not the same now. I just wished I played enough pre-bc to get something even close to this amazing item.
1. Remember that cave with the spiders in Shadowglen? By far, that was my favorite part of Vanilla. Why, you ask? My night elf and other elves were grouping together, killing every single spider we could find. I would have turned in that quest I was on way earlier than I did, but it was just too fun. How I miss the old days...2. "You there, check out that noise!" "We're under attack! A vast, ye swabs! Repel the invaders!" Mr. Smite was one of the coolest parts of Deadmines for me. Using that cannon to blow up that door, followed by Mr. Smite yelling, then you facing the first mate himself. It was so exciting for me, having Smite stun me to get a weapon three times. Mind you, I never really was stunned before.3. The Lady Katrana Prestor chain where she turns into Onyxia and has all those guards turned into Onyxia's Elite Guards. I always used to go to the Keep just to see the event unfold.4. Gnomeregan. Seeing the radioactive waste on the troggs and all those machines was one of the main reasons I became a gnomish engineer. Thermaplugg was an awesome boss to me, him bringing in all those bombs as you try to kill him. And the Electrocutioner 6000 was awesome to me. I have no idea why, but he was. It was probably you fighting him in the middle of a large circle with him dropping my first ever key I have ever gotten. I never have and never will pass up Gnomeregan as I level any character.5. Scarlet Monastery, my first-ever multi-wing dungeon. Graveyard was epic, it being my first large encounter with the undead. Library? Another key. I was intriqued about you needing a key to access the other wings. Another reason is the houndmaster. It was awesome fighting all those hounds. Now, Armory was my second favorite wing. Herod had that whirlwind he uses when he says, "Blades of light!" When defeating him, you hear this trainee yelling to avenge him, followed by a LOT of them flowing in. Cathedral is, by far, my favorite. After defeating Mograine, Whitemane comes in, revives him, then you fight them both at the same time. Simply awesome.
